"I hate Ms. Roberts," Logan said, approaching our table with Chris and Charlie behind them. He sat next to me and I looked at him weirdly. I shot a confused look at Charlie causing him to sigh. "There's an upcoming talent show and Ms. Roberts, our theatre teacher, is making us all join. and if we don't we're gonna get a failing grade" he explained.
"Why do you guys even have a theater for an elective?" Jana asked the three of them. "We need an art course or subject to be able to graduate," Chris answered. "And it was the only one available when we enrolled," Logan added. I hummed in response. "So what are you guys planning to do?" Claire asked them. Logan and Chris groaned.
"We bloody don't know! I mean we have a few games coming before our big and final game ever, we have a bunch of training to deal with, not to mention a lot of subjects to study for" Logan frustratingly said sounding VERY British then rubbing his forehead. I patted him on the back and I saw Jana do the same with Chris. "It's just sickening of all the things that we have to do and this is just making it even more stressful than it already is" Chris explained. "Do you guys need any help or are we not allowed to?" Ellie asked.
"We can. We're allowed to have up to two friends to help us with the performance, more than that, and we are gonna have a low grade." Charlie said. I raised an eyebrow "Why?" I asked. "I think it's supposed to help avoid cheating?" Marc said making it sound like a question instead of a statement. "How the hell do you even cheat at a performance?" Dave asked.
we shrugged and I looked at Logan "You need any help with yours?" I asked him. He nodded, sighing. "Will you? Is it okay?" he begged like a little kid. I chuckled then nodded. "Yeah, it'll be fun," I said before taking a bite on my sandwich.
"Hey Claire, will help me with mine?" Charlie asked his girlfriend. Claire smiled brightly then nodded frantically. "I'd love to!" she exclaimed. Chris groaned "Great, I'm all alone now" he muttered. "I can help you," Jana told him.
I bit my bottom lip trying not to smile. looks like she's making her move. I glanced at Ellie and Claire and they were doing the same thing. "You sure? I'm gonna warn you, I'm horrible on stage" he said furrowing his eyebrows, looking worried. "Yeah, besides I don't have anything better to do" Jana stated, taking a huge bite of her pasta.
"Ugh! Great, now another couple has joined the boat" Dave gagged. "Yeah, can you guys flirt, like somewhere else?" Ellie agreed. I looked at Marc and he was cringing hard. We rolled our eyes at them. "There are only two couples, idiot" Jana glared at them, blushing a little. "Whatever floats your boat" Marc muttered. I laughed but quickly stopped because it seemed like I was the only one who heard him.
The bell rang and we went to our classes. After a few hours, I met up with Logan at his locker. I saw him coming towards me and I smiled at him. "Hey, so I was thinking we should start today since we don't have training today," he told me. I agreed "Sure, but what about the days you do have training? I mean you only have Wednesday, train free" I said.
"Well, classes end by 2:30, and I have like, 1 to 2 hours of training so it'll usually end around 4. Maybe after that, we could take up a few hours practicing. we could book one of the classrooms for rehearsal." he suggested. "Okay, I guess we have that settled, but here's the big question," I said as he closed his locker. He gave me a confused look.
"What are we going to do?" I asked, causing him to chuckle. "Uhm, I don't know. Any ideas?" he asked me while we started to walk. "I don't know, you're the one who can sing, dance, and act. And may I remind you that it's your grade" I told him. He playfully rolled his eyes.
we stayed silent for a while. we got to the registrar and asked if we could use one of the rooms for practice. After a few minutes of explaining, they finally agreed. We went to room 212 and opened it. "Okay, so tell me, what can you do?" Logan asked me as I put my bag on the floor and sat on one of the tables that we've moved towards the side. "I honestly don't know," I told him.
He sighed then started to walk around. "Can you at least stay on a beat? because if you can't, then there's no way we're gonna pull off a musical number," he said. "Yeah, I can, I think," I said, unsurely. He laughed and motioned for me to come closer to him. I did and he reached for my hands. He placed my left hand on his shoulder and held my right hand. He pulled me closer by the waist. I looked at him confusingly.
"Okay, so when I go forward, you go backward and vice versa. Your left foot first" he instructed. I stepped back as he stepped forward. "Good, now to your right, then forward, then left, then repeat." he slowly said while we did the steps. we started to sway me around causing me to giggle. "1 and 2 and 1 and 2 and 1 and 2 and 1 and 2..." he repeated as we danced.
"Good, now let's try with some music," he said while we pulled away. He grabbed his phone and put on some waltz music, I think. "It's the same, alright? and remember to stay on the beat. it's like what we did but just with music, okay?" he told me and I nodded.
We got to the same position "5, 6, 7, 8.." he counted then we started to move. I was able to keep up making me smile at him "You're doing it!" he said, laughing a little. He dipped me, causing me to yelp in surprise. "You're a natural" he smirked at me. I rolled my eyes but a smile was on my lips then he pulled me up.
"Looks like we're dancing," he said. we started to choreograph, well, more like he choreographed. I wasn't much help. After a few hours, we decided to wrap it all up. we pushed the tables back to where they were from. "Want a ride home?" he asked as he pushed the last table. I chuckled while I pulled my bag over my shoulder "Is that even a question?"
