Skye's POV
I beat sunrise. The first day of school makes me sleepless every time but especially this year, I need it to be better than last.
Thankfully a warm shower diluted my nerves, most of the negative thoughts washing down the drain.
My closet was over whelming but I managed to narrow it down. A pair of high waisted black skinny jeans, a cute black crop top with a black denim jacket that Ava customized adding a stripe on each arm with my signature electric blue colour layering on top.
My makeup was minimal although, eyeline always makes a look way better. My dark hair flows free.
Just on que I hear a bimp from outside my window. I peer out seeing my wacky best friend Brooke.
I take one final look at myself in the mirror before throwing my bag over my shoulder.
"Todays the day hell starts again" She shouts walking into my house like she owns the place.
"Good morning to you too" I roll my eyes pulling her in for a hug.
"I'm so over the high school bullshit and it hasn't even started"
I narrow my eyes at her "Like you don't live for it"
She crosses her arms "You have a point" she admits. I shake my head laughing at her.
"Look at my girls, all ready for their first day"
My Mum walks over pinching both our cheeks, we smile uncomfortably allowing her to have her proud moment.
"You better not start crying like every year" She lets our cheeks finally relax, I shouldn't have bothered with blush, all my blood was at the surface from her tight grip.
"At least let me get a picture" Brooke answers for both of us getting ready to pose.
"WAIT!" I scream bolting back up the stair.
I returned slightly amused by their confusion. "This is for you" I revealed the surprise from behind my back.
Brooke's eyes lit up.
"No fucking way" My Mum glared at her for the use of language not that the men in this house were any better. I handed her a black and white tartan jacket with hints of pink. She held it examining it in great detail, she also looked like she could cry. I was about to ask her if she liked it but she pulled me into a bone crushing hug.
"Thank you, Skye"
She looked in disbelief "Where did you get it?"
"I remember you telling me you wanted one like this so, I spoke to Ava. It's one of a kind"
She squealed putting it on
Like we agreed we took photos. I sent some to Ava letting her know we love her jackets.
My Dad even took a photo with us, his soft side came out occasionally.
"Let's get this shit show on the road" She laughs, dragging me along with her.
I'm lucky to have Brooke. I was always jealous of Axel for having a friend like Blake. He understood what our world was since he was born into it. I thought I'd be in it alone until I stumbled into Brooke when I was visiting Taylor our tech guy. Brooke is his cousin he was training her meaning she was already apart of us. My Brooke is a little tech demon.
She insisted to drive us since she got her license over the summer. The car was blasting our hype playlist. The morning roads get a full show of our singing and dancing.

The further we walked into the school the more looks we got. I wouldn't say we ruled the school but being a part of the Red family not to mention our Mafia we get a fair bit of attention.
They would have a heart attack if they knew I always had some of my stars and blades on me. It gives me the slight edge over the queen bees of the school who's sharpest weapon is their high heels and lipsticks.
"Looking good Skye" A senior winks as we pass his locker. I give him a seductive smirk messing with his head. He looked stunned so it obviously worked. Brooke laughed pulling me along.
"2 minutes in and you've already got guys lined up"
I lean on my locker which conveniently placed next to Brookes. "Shame, they'll never get a chance"
My face falls when the intercom announces to the whole school
'Skye Red to the office please'
I bang my head against my locker dreading whatever is coming my way. Brooke wishes me good luck and I start my quest to the front office.
"Miss. Dayna, I've been on campus for 5 minutes I haven't done anything"
The middle aged ginger haired lady welcomed me with a big smile. "You haven't done anything wrong darling"
I gesture my head and hands for her to continue which she eventually picks up on. "We have a new student who needs a tour and general help"
"Isn't there people designated to give tours?"
She laughs a little "Yes but they mentioned they knew you"
My suspicion rose. Who the hell knows me? and more to the point why do they know me?
My answers were quickly answered when a familiar dark hair all black wearing boy walks out of the principal's office.
"You have to be kidding me" I say out loud rolling my eyes so hard they should be in the back of my skull
"Skye this is..."
"Grayson Riley, I'm aware" I interrupt
He approaches the desk; his grey eyes found my icy cold ones. His smirk grew when he connected the dots.
"Your job is to show him where his classes are and find his locker" That doesn't sound like my type of job description.
"So, we meet again" His annoying humour is going to get old really quick.
I hold my hand in front of me. He slowly reaches his out heading for a handshake.
I smack his hand away before he has the chance. "Your papers, dumb ass"
He nods as if he knew all along.
I walk out the office with him tailing me, Miss. Dayna wishes us a happy first day.
"So, the classrooms have numbers on them and your locker..." I take a brief look around the hall "Is down there somewhere, good luck" I press the paper to his well-toned chest, I hold in a flustered breath from the hard impact.
I turn on my boot heels heading back to my locker but my arm is pulled back by a strong grip "I suggest you take your hand off before I cut it off" I threaten.
He slowly eases up "What's your issue with me?"
"I don't have an issue. I just don't appreciate you worming your way into my school life in order to progress in your work life" He was taken by surprise at my explanation.
"Trust me it's not like that, I just wanted someone I know to help me out"
I stare deeper into his eyes, crossing my arms replying in a firm voice "I don't trust anyone and you definitely don't know me"
"If you haven't realised we're on the same side here, I'm not the enemy, whoever pissed you off before, isn't me" he seemed more riled up and I hate to admit it but he's right.
"Fine, we have the same class, stick with me" His face softened and he followed me down the hall.
He better wish he doesn't screw up.
