Skye's POV
My heart shattered more than I thought was possible. There it was, Miss. Valerie's dance studio near enough burnt to the ground.
The air was filled with grey smoke and the best part of the building was no more.
The car hardly came to a stop when I got out, I sprinted over to the small crowd consisting of my family. Vanessa's eyes find mine first, with her arms open for me. She held me close like the world was about to end, to us in some way it was. This studio is the most important place to us but above everyone it's the most important place to Miss. Valerie. She built this studio from nothing and made it her empire, for it to be gone and it's my fault. This wasn't aimed at her this was for me.
The feeling of dread filled my stomach when I ask "Is anyone hurt?"
"Nobody was in there when I happened" relief waved over me but it doesn't take away the pain.
I catch a glimpse of the woman who has been one of my biggest role models. It breaks me to see her in such distress.
"Miss. Valerie" I say gently preventing startling her.
She drags her eyes away from the building and plasters on a frail smile "Skye darling, shouldn't you be at school?"
I admire her strength but this time I can see straight through it "That is the last worry here"
I embraced her into a warm hug finding the same strength Vanessa did for me. I felt her light sobs that she had been clearly holding in for a while.
"I should probably talk to the firemen" She weakly said. I nodded letting her go.
"We saved as much as we could but the damage is clearly very server" The firemen went on to explain completely obvious points which we gathered by simply observing the situation. It just put Miss. Valerie through more torment hearing the ins and outs.
A plan formed in my head which I knew if I wanted to pull off I had to do now. It is risky but I know I can do it.
I slowly backed away from the group and ran towards the building.
"SKYE. STOP. IT'S NOT SAFE" I hear Grayson yell but I was already in the building entrance. The firemen pushed him back preventing him from chasing me, I hope they can control him enough so he doesn't lose his temper.
I broke through the second entrance door and was hit by smoke. It chocked me at the back of my throat, I covered my mouth with my sleeve which I should have done in the first place. The entire place was still smoking, I am far from religious but every part of my being prayed what I was looking for wasn't burnt to a crisp.
The office door was jammed, the door was charcoal black but it didn't look as bad as the others. It was still standing.
I took a couple steps back and kicked it with force. It slammed open allowing me to see the damage.
Like the rest of the place it was bad but, it was still together. I walked to the storage cabinets and grabbed a few tins that were locked away but I knew where all the keys were.
I took one final look in the room and said goodbye. I had never per paired myself for this. The smoke was getting thicker due to me exposing the room to the rest of the disaster.
I ran out finally breathing fresh air, my lungs were hating me but this isn't the first time I've run into something like this. I felt people surrounding me. A pair of arms pulled me towards them, I recognise them instantly. Grayson.
"Skye" he breathed heavily, I guess seeing me brought peace to his mind, he did try and stop me.
"SKYE RED WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" a stern voice yelled at me. I suddenly felt like a naughty five year old. My Mum stormed over, looking even madder than when I went on my first assignment with the boys without telling her.
