So easily? She meowed her mind in disbelief. Mucus streamed down from his nose, he wheezed and let out terrible coughs.
"Out!" Hollypool hissed at them. "Or you'll get it too. We can't have many cats sick or we will be weak!" her voice turned harsher.
Streampaw whirled back, her tail was fluffed up. Foxpaw paced a little back, Hollypool fed him the catmint. Then coltsfoot.
Foxpaw watched as she stumbled out the den. Flatpaw behind her, his tail drooped down releasing terrible coughs.
"No cat can go in the apprentices' den yet." Hollypool warned, she flicked her brown tail. "And warn other cats as well, if they need me they must stay out."
Streampaw shrugged and padded off, Foxpaw behind her. "What happens if greencough is not treated?" she mewed curiously.
"There's something called blackcough." she mewed reluctantly. "I heard about it when I was a kit!" Foxpaw was surprised that the cat didn't get angry easily. "Apparently it happens when you know what you asked. It is deadly, and very painful."
Foxpaw green eyes grew wide, bewildered. "Will Flatpaw get it?"
"I doubt it." Streampaw meowed in reply. "Hollypool is a very good medicine, if no cat can heal something, she can." her silver tail flicked.
Foxpaw blinked approvingly. The pretty brown she-cat was really good at healing things, and you would only get blackcough if not treated.
But what if you didn't treat it enough? She wailed. She whipped behind facing a brown she-cat, her green eyes glowed.
"Foxpaw!" it was Mosspelt. "Thank StarClan you are alive. Do you think you're fit enough for training?"
"I feel fine." Foxpaw mewed truthfully.
Doubt flickered in the she-cat's eyes, but she turned to face the entrance. Foxpaw went behind her, she watched as they got near SlopeClan's border.
"What about some hunting?" she suggested.
"I thought you wanted to 'fight' for a 'battle'." Foxpaw spat playfully, then she felt her stomach churn. Did Mosspelt know about CloudClan fighting BreezeClan along with CliffClan?
Mosspelt leaned closer. "You know." she breathed over to her.
Foxpaw leaped back, unsheathing her claws. She curled her lip back, revealing her sharp pointy fangs.
Foxpaw's fur bristled. I thought Hollypool wouldn't tell any cat! But she already told her before I even knew.
"I'm going hunting." Foxpaw meowed, she fluffed out her chest fur and jumped into some dead brackens.
Foxpaw lifted her nose and tasted the air, snowflakes drifted down on her nose as she tried to shake them off. Her whiskers twitched. The snow fell down on her pelt as it turned white.
Of course leaf-bare has to ruin things. Now where will I get prey? Foxpaw scurried down to some undergrowth. She tasted the air again, a vole was nearby.
She crouched down, her tail flattened to the snowy ground. She shifted a bit, careful not to alert the vole. But at the right time, she pounced. The vole tried to scurry off, but Foxpaw grabbed her by her claws.
She drew the vole closer, biting its neck as the vole's body turned limp. Foxpaw ran over to Mosspelt, the vole between her jaws.
"Oh you caught something." there was a sense of dismay in her voice. "I thought you wouldn't adapt to the cold."
