The day was dark and cloudy, Foxclaw inspected that rain would come. Her kits kept begging if she could go outside, but Foxclaw insisted not to. She looked at dawn patrol who were beginning to leave. An itch made her want to go.

Goldentail nudged her. "Go ahead, I'll take care of them."

Foxclaw narrowed her eyes. "Are you sure?"

Goldentail nodded. Foxclaw sighed, she scampered out of the nursery. Meeting up with Mosspelt who was assigning which cats to go, Berryheart, Riverpaw, were there. Foxclaw sped over to them.

"Can I come?" Foxclaw asked.

"What about your kits?" Berryheart objected.

"Goldentail is taking care of them." Foxclaw growled.

Mosspelt lashed her tail. "Just let her come. We'll check CliffClan then see if the badger is near."

Murmurs of agreement rose through the cats, Foxclaw flicked her tail. She looked anxiously back, Joysong had gotten out of the warriors' den. His green eyes flickered with revenge, then he headed to the fresh-kill pile walking over to the nursery.

No! He's going to do something! Foxclaw gasped, she flipped around. But Berryheart nudged her. "Do you want to go to CliffClan first?" he mewed.

"Huh? Oh okay." Foxclaw shook her head, what had she said? She wanted to be near CloudClan to keep an eye on her kits.

Before she could object, the group of cats began to run over to CliffClan. She scampered behind them, the cats stopped at their border. Sniffing out the scent-marks. Foxclaw shifted, why did she leave? Now she wanted to stay with her kits!

Mosspelt lifted her head. "Nothing here." she meowed.

Riverpaw's tail fur pricked. "No! They are very hostile now."

Berryheart flicked his ear, he looked at Mosspelt who just shrugged. They padded closer to him, smelling a tree stump. Foxclaw sniffed as well, Berryheart was right! The scent was much sharper, as if they were showing hostility. But if they didn't want the kits, why were they so hostile?

They padded back to CliffClan, but a screech made Foxclaw alarmed. She pelted through the trees sniffing the air. The scent of badger lingered near, suddenly she saw a badger by the river.

Rain fell down, harder than the river could move, Foxclaw felt the droplets of water prick her pelt. She squinted trying to make out what the badger was doing. Then her jaw grew wide.

Her kits! They squealed as the badger chased after them, Hopkit was behind. His little legs made him slower than his growing littermates. "Nooooo!" Foxclaw roared.

She jumped up, slipping down the muddy slope. A group of cats came out of the camp behind her. Mistlekit, Pinekit, and Lightkit scrambled over to Foxclaw.

Goldentail chased after Foxclaw, grabbing Foxclaw's kits by their scruff. Foxclaw took a massive leap, where did Hopkit go to?

She saw a small black and ginger body dangling from the badger's jaw. Blood welled out of his neck as the badger released him, Hopkit fell down to the muddy floor. His pelt chrome red, Foxclaw let out a wail.

She pounced on the badger, scratching its face. Foxclaw let out yowls of triumphs as other cats helped her beat the badger.

Goldentail was in the distance with Foxclaw's kits, they scurried back to camp. Foxclaw bit the badger's neck, surprised when it scampered away. Foxclaw gasped, she scrambled over to Hopkit who was on the ground.
