It's been a week since you hooked up with Jaden. You really planned to not see him unless he called you first, but when you ran into him at the concert you just got carried away. You were trying to take your mind off the fact that you hadn't heard anything from him. The nap wasn't working, because you just kept tossing and turning.
You gave up and got all of your laundry together and headed down to the laundry room of your dorm building. You kept trying to make excuses like technically you never gave him your number, but then you remember he has your snapchat. Plus his bandmate has talked to your roommate almost every day this week and he could have found you if he wanted. While you waited for your washer to be finished, you kept checking your phone only to find it empty of notifications. You slammed the phone down on the folding table in frustration when a familiar voice rang out.
Josh: "Hey, what did the phone ever do to you?"
You looked up, trying to hold back tears now that you know you had an audience and came face to face with Josh carrying a huge smile.
You: "Sorry. Just frustrated. I doubt you want to hear about it."
Josh: *moved to sit next to you on the table*
"You don't know what I want. C'mon... talk to me."You were really careful to leave out too many details just in case you might have a shot with him some day. You didn't believe he liked you like Charli thought, but just in case.
You: "I met a guy at the party and we sorta fooled around and I thought he'd call me by now and he didn't. I'm more mad at myself than anything because I do NOT do things like that usually. I really knew better."
Josh: "It's been a whole week?"
You: "Oh God, you're right. He's never going to call."
Josh: *wrapping his arm around your shoulder*
"Hey. He's an idiot. Even if he does call just forget about him."You: "I don't know why I care. I told myself I didn't want to date right now."
You looked up when he didn't respond and saw the sad look on Josh's face. You didn't know if it was because you were stuck on another guy or because you said you didn't want anything serious, but he looked defeated.
You leaned your head against the shoulder of the arm he still had draped across you and told him you were really thankful you'd met him.
Your best friend in high school had been a boy you'd grown up with your whole life and you always gravitated more towards guy friends so this felt very natural to you.
