Room 241: A Josh Richards Story

67- Just Married

*JOSH'S POV*

On the drive home he spun his phone around the cupholder. He was dreading making this call but he knew the longer he put it off the more he'd regret it. By the time he got home, Olivia would quickly find out and if his mom heard the news from her and not him she would be so hurt. His new wife kissed his fingertips before placing his hand gently against her cheek as if she knew what was troubling him.

You: "Do you want me to call her?"

Josh: "No, I should do it."

He dialed her number but it went straight to voicemail. He sighed and figured he'd try again once they were home.

*END JOSH'S POV*

You park the car back at campus and pull your bag out of the trunk. Josh grabs it and tosses it over your shoulder before intertwining his fingers in yours.

Josh: "Are you ready to do this?"

You: "Well technically we already did it. Now just comes the part where we tell our friends we got married."

Josh: "How do you think everyone is going to take it?"

You: "Well Jaden already knows but hopefully he didn't tell Mads because she would have told Olivia who would have called your-"

Josh: "My mom. Oh God, I never tried her again."

You took the phone and shoved it into his pocket and told him to try once we got settled upstairs and walked up to the dorm room door. You took a deep breath and Josh leaned down to kiss you:
"You and me forever, right?"

You: "That's the idea."

When you opened the door it was pitch black. You flipped the light on and Josh dropped the bags in shock. Suddenly a crowd yelled surprise and you jumped, matching Josh's expression. Chase, and Charli were front and center and blew confetti all over you as you and Josh laughed. Olivia was standing next to Mads, who surprisingly had a smile on her face that didn't look bitchy for the first time in all the time you'd known her. Noah was standing next to a tall, dark haired girl that you didn't recognize. Jaden moved out of the way to let someone through and suddenly you were face to face with Josh's Mom.

You caught your breath the moment you saw Josh's mom with his Dad and little brother standing beside her. She had tears in her eyes and for a moment you rethought letting Josh and you do this alone. Josh hugged Jaden who had obviously set this all up, and then turned to face his mom:
"I'm so sorry. We were just caught up in the moment and-"

Mom: "Don't ever apologize for following your heart."

She hugged him and cried as his dad hugged you:
"You've been a part of this family since he brought you home for Christmas, might as well make it official, right?"

It seemed unreal that they were so accepting that they'd hopped on a plane and flown 8 hours on a day's notice just to be here without an ounce of anger. Especially considering it never even occurred to you to call and tell your parents you had a boyfriend, much less a husband. His mom interrupted your thoughts to pull you into a tight hug. She whispered in your ear:
"No sad thoughts today. You're one of us now and we already love you so much more than you know."

Olivia had waited long enough and jumped across the room to almost tackle you. She squealed as she jumped up and down bouncing you with her still mid-hug:
"I can't believe I finally have a real sister. I mean you were already basically one, but now it's official!!"

You asked quiet enough that only you two heard:
"Did you and Sam work everything out?"

Olivia: "I mean we aren't eloping like you did or anything, but yeah. We are way good. He flew here with my parents, actually."

You saw Sam's sweet face smiling as he congratulated Josh. Josh drug him over as he told his sister:
"Hey now. Give my wife some breathing room."

You looked over at Mads who was standing behind Olivia and expected her to have a sour expression hearing that, but she was smiling... a genuine smile. Jaden walked over to check on her and they were sharing a sweet moment as you walked up.

You: "Jaden, did you do all of this?"

Jaden: "Mads did most of it."

Mads: *laughing*
"That's not true. I ordered a cake. But Jaden came to me and told me what you two were planning so I called his family. I knew he would want them here."

Jaden: "I was worried they'd flip out, but turns out he has the coolest family on the planet."

Mads: "I always knew that. They are the greatest, seriously."

Josh grabbed your hand and pulled you close as he fist-bumped Jaden and said:
"Dude, thank you so much for this. I was worried about what we were walking into, but this was amazing."
