The next night everyone is at Charli’s house enjoying homemade pizza. It’d been honestly such a blessing taking this time off to all just be together. Everyone was laughing and making plans to go ice skating the next day: “I’m not sure I should be skating, but I definitely will sit and drink cocoa and laugh when you all fall.”

Josh: “I’ll have you know that I’m an excellent skater. I played hockey in high school.”
Jaden: *laughing* “I swear you sound more Canadian every time you open your mouth.”
Charli: “Maybe I should stay home? I can’t really count on Chase to show up and help out by taking turns watching Zay.”
Josh: “Are you kidding? I was his age when I got my first skates. You guys are coming.”
You smiled at the thought of how amazing Josh is with Isaiah and how great of a father he’s going to make. Everyone is still eating when Chase showed up and everyone’s jaw hit the floor: “Why is everyone so shocked to see me? This is still technically my house.”
You: “M-Mads? What are you doing here?”

Mads: “I posted on Insta about being in the next town over skiing with friends and Chase messaged insisting I stop by. I know it’s been forever, right?”
You looked at Josh who looked like he’d seen a ghost and then Charli who looked as if she was the one experiencing morning sickness then Olivia butted in: “Why wouldn’t you tell me you were coming? I talked to you 2 days ago and you said nothing?”
Mads: “It was a really last minute trip. It’s okay that I’m here right?”
Jaden was still frozen in his place. He hadn’t seen her in over a year and this was the last place he expected to run into her much less with Chase.
Chase: *noticing Jaden’s shock* “It’s cool that I brought her, right Jaden? I mean after all you’re here for my wife so it’s only fair.”
Mads felt the blood drain from her face as she realized she’d been used just to make Charli jealous. In all honesty, she’d only agreed to come because she was hoping to catch up with the people that for the last few years of college she actually had gotten close to.
