Your phone goes off again and you’re excited thinking it’s Josh, but are surprised to see an unrecognized number on the screen.
You: “Hello?”
Jaden: “Hey, it’s Jaden. What are you doing?

You: “More importantly, why are you calling me? Wait how did you get my number?”
Jaden: “Nick gave it to me a long time ago.”
You: “So you’ve had my number this whole time and are waiting until just now to call me? Wow.”
Jaden: “Hey, don’t be mad. I just was thinking about you and wanted to see you.”
You: “A little late to be pulling the ‘miss you’ card, my dude.”
Jaden: “Can’t I miss yo-”
You: *cutting him off* “No.”
Jaden: “There’s another party at Beta Gamma and I wanted you to come.”
You: “Probably not.”
Jaden: “C’mon we had a really good time last party.”
You: “Yep and I felt like hell about it for weeks. I think I’m gonna pass.”
You hang up before he can get to you and put your phone away as Charli is looking at you waiting for you to explain either call.
Charli: “I heard the facetime was Josh, but the second was a little hostile to be. Jaden or Vinnie?”
You: *rolling your eyes* “Jaden.”
Charli: “What the hell did he want? Was Nick with him?”
You: “I have no clue. He was trying to get me to come to another frat party.”
Charli: “You basically have a boyfriend. He needs to get a clue.”
You try to convince Charli that you and Josh are just friends. You admit to the second kiss, but admit you are starting to think it was just his way of comforting you after your nightmare because he hasn’t really made a move since.
Charli: “That boy is crazy about you…”
You sigh in disbelief because as much as you hate to admit it, you’re totally falling for him but you just wish he was a little clearer on what he wanted.
Charli: “Girl, look at his instagram… He’s literally posted with you 5 or his last 12 photos. Boys don’t do that unless they are ok with everyone assuming you’re his girlfriend.”

You shrug your shoulders still struggling to believe that perfect boy has real feelings for you and isn’t just having fun. You take her phone and scroll through the photos and then curiosity gets the best of you. You click to his tagged photos and the most recent hits you like a ton of bricks.

You toss her phone back to her and fall face first onto your bed, declaring: “I give up on boys!!”
Charli: “Yikes, is that the ex-girlfriend? I’m sure it means nothing. Didn’t he say she’s still friends with his sister?”
You: *pulling a new shirt over your head* “Yep, and he said that he avoids her at all costs and wants nothing to do with her.”
Charli: “Wait, why are you changing?”
You: “I’m going to the party… and you’re coming with me.”
Charli: “I thought we were past going after douchebags who only want to hook up?”
You: “I’m not going for Jaden. I’m going with you to have a good time and take my mind of the latest jerk who just wants to play me. Is that going to be a problem?”
Your phone rings and it’s another facetime from Josh.
Charli can see how determined you are to pretend you’re fine. She gives up and starts to get ready as you answer Josh’s call.
Josh: “Sorry about that. My mom is nosy sometimes.”
You: *trying to pretend you weren’t hurt by what you saw on his Instagram* *It’s okay.”
Josh: “What are you getting all beautiful for? Got plans?”
You: “I was going to the Beta Gamma party tonight. You’re supposed to be leaving soon to drive back, are you going to be here in time to come?”
Josh: “Uhhh. Probably not. It’ll be super late because my mom planned a big last dinner with the family.”
You make an excuse to hang up and grab your bag telling Charli you’re ready to go get drunker than you have ever been so you can forget boys in general.
