The Way Of The Shinobi

Chapter Four: Yumiko Sato

(Mayumi's POV)

    "He's late, yet again." I sighed deeply as I stood at the gates of the village with Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke. We all had gotten orders to meet in the front of the gates earlier in the morning. 

    "He's always late." Sasuke stated coldly as Sakura nodded in agreement. 

    "I mean, even Naruto got here on time." Sakura added as Naruto frowned. 

    "Hey! I'm normally on time!" He defended himself, causing me to giggle slightly. Suddenly a cloud of smoke appeared next to us, revealing Kakashi and a young woman with long silk like black hair that framed her face. She had alluring violet eyes that kept their gaze on Kakashi. I rolled my eyes as she held onto Kakashi's arm.

    "There you are Kakashi- Sensei! You're late again!" Sakura scolded him. My green eyes stayed locked with the girl who was hanging on Kakashi's arm. 

    "Who is that, Kakashi-Sensei?" Naruto asked the question that all of us were wondering. Kakashi glanced down at the girl practically climbing on him. 

   "This is Yumiko Sato, We will be escorting her to the Village Hidden in the Rain." Kakashi explained as I shoved my hands in my pocket and shrugged, becoming oddly annoyed with how Yumiko was hanging on Kakashi.
   

   "Yumiko this is Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno and Mayumi Kaneko." Kakashi introduced us as she giggled. 

   "It's very nice to meet you all." She smiled and glanced back at me again. Yumiko leaned into Kakashi and whispered. "I don't think Mayumi likes me..." her words caused my annoyance to only grow larger. 

    "I don't like anyone." I stated coldly. "Can we head out already? We're wasting time just standing here." I added as I turned towards the gate and began walking away. Sasuke shrugged and followed me with Sakura trailing behind him.  The first couple of minutes of travel was oddly quiet. Naruto looked between all of us and spoke, breaking the silence. 

   "So Kakashi-Sensei, why do we have to escort her anyways?" Naruto questioned as Kakashi smiled, his eyes glancing at me as he spoke. 

    "Well, Ms. Sato is the only daughter of a very rich man who lives in the Village Hidden in the Rain. Due to her wealth she will most likely be targeted by bandits." Kakashi explained as I rolled my eyes again.

    "Woah Bandits! That's awesome! Finally a real mission!" Naruto cheered as Sakura smacked him upside his head. 

    "Idiot! Bandits aren't a good thing!" Sakura hissed as Yumiko giggled. She began aimlessly chatting with Naruto and Sakura as Kakashi caught up with me. 

   "Mayumi...if any bandits come, I'm leaving you in charge of them." Kakashi explained as I nodded slowly. 

   "That's fine with me." I stated coldly. Kakashi grabbed my wrist, stopping me in my tracks so he could get me to look at him.

    "Do not under any circumstances use the Ishi Kettei-Sha. Do you understand me?" Kakashi's voice was low and stern, sending a chill straight through my body. 

    "Who are you to tell me that I can't use my Kekei Genkai? I'm capable of handling things on my own Kakashi." I hissed, pulling my wrist out of his grasp. 

  "Mayumi, if a bandit or another ninja were to see your Kekei Genkai that would put you as a target." Kakashi explained calmly. I flashed my cat green eyes at Kakashi as I began to walk away. 

  "Good to know you have no faith in my capabilities, Kakashi." I stated as I continued to walk. A deep sigh escaped Kakashi's lips as I heard Yumiko walk over to him. 

   "Don't worry Kakashi, maybe she just woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Yumiko tried to help the situation, when in reality she was only making things worse. Sasuke caught up with me, his dark eyes examining me as he spoke softly. 

   "Why doesn't Kakashi- Sensei want you to use your power?" He questioned as I shrugged.

   "I guess he's afraid that my abilities will cause us more trouble. He seems to forget I was trained to kill at the age of five. No one has ever seen my eyes and lived to tell about it." I explained. I knew deep down Kakashi was only trying to protect everyone but, I'm not some little girl that needs protected. We were about a quarter of the way to the Village Hidden in the Rain when I stopped dead in my tracks.

    "DUCK NOW!" I yelled as the sound of a demon wind shuriken coming straight towards us filled my ears. The large black and silver shuriken hit the tree right in front of Yumiko and Kakashi. I quickly stood up and activated my Ishi Kettei-Sha. The whites of my eyes quickly changed to a deep onyx black. My normal bright green eyes turned a glowing neon green. My pupils became thin like a cats.

     "Kakashi, get them to safety. I'll handle this!" I yelled, quickly jumping into the tree above us. 

    "MAYUMI NO!" Kakashi yelled. I ignored his warning and followed the direction that the shuriken came from. My eyes scanned the forest as I jumped from tree to tree, finally locating where the shuriken originated from. In the middle of the forest stood a tall man dressed in all black. His dark black cloak had deep maroon clouds covering them. I stopped a few feet away from him as I pulled out two extremely sharp kunai.

  "Hm..so you showed up." The mans voice was deep, as his bright red eyes met mine. 

"You're after Ms. Sato, aren't you?" I hissed as I held up my kunai. The man chuckled softly and shook his head. 

   "No...I'm here for you, Mayumi Kaneko." His words caused my eyes to widen. 

"W-What?" I muttered as the man with long black hair kept his menacing gaze on me.

 "Join us...Mayumi."
