(Mayumi's POV)
The journey to the Land of Snow didn't take us long. Rin, Natsuo, Don and I traveled silently and as quickly as we could. We stopped a few miles away from the entrance of the target's main residence. I looked over at Rin, who had his Anbu mask down. The gentle curves of red painted on his mask showed his gentle personality. Rin nodded and motioned for Don and Natsuo to approach from the left, while Rin and I headed right.
I nodded and left for the right side of the building. It was a somewhat large factory, hidden deep in the tundra of the land of snow. Roaring snow storms kept the factory hidden from plane sight. Rin and I ran silently through the snow as we approached the side of the loading dock. I pressed my back against the cold cement wall of the factory as I felt Rin softly grab my hand.
I looked down at his hand on top of mine, and back up at him. Thankfully, I had my Anbu mask on or my bright red face would be visible through the snow storm. I quickly pulled my hand away, trying to focus on the intel mission ahead of us. Our mission's details stated to track and collect intel on the infamous Hitoshi Fujimoto, trading and manufacturing industry mogul.
I glanced up, noticing a vent about three feet above us. I nudged him softly and motioned up at the vent. Without another second Rin bent down and lifted me up. I blushed deeply again as I quickly unscrewed the vent cover and climbed in. Rin jumped up after I was in the vent and pulled himself up as well.
I began quietly crawling through the vents. I stopped and exhaled softly, activating my Ishi Kettei-Sha. The long connecting hallways that spanned in front of me suddenly began to glow different colors. There were three pathways that illuminated red, one that glowed green and another that for some reason was covered in a thick purple aura.
Normally, when I was dealing with a situation like this there would only be red pathways and one green. The thick, oozing purple aura was something my Kekei Genkai had never seen before. I looked back at Rin as he spoke.
"Mayumi, what do you see?" I sighed deeply, the uneasy feeling the purple path was giving me made my stomach churn."Follow me..something doesn't seem right..." I spoke softly as Rin nodded. We crawled quietly through the vents as we reached an open panel. I climbed over to the other side of the open panel so Rin and I were on both sides. We leaned in and looked down to see the most horrid sight I've ever seen. Large tanks filled with a mysterious liquid, and floating inside of the liquid were children. My eyes widened as I felt like I was going to get sick.
"Sir, the experiments are going exactly as planned. The DNA we collected from the target has definitely helped this new batch of experiments grow better." A young man in a lab coat spoke to a mysterious man sitting at a desk in the front of the room.
"Oh no..." Rin muttered, his voice laced with fear as I looked up at him.
"Rin, what's wrong?" I whispered, trying to figure out what he saw. Suddenly I figured it out. The mysterious man stood up, his long white hair was pulled up in a royal looking bun. My eyes widened in shock as the identity of the man finally revealed itself. My father, Jin Kaneko looked over the rows of tanks in awe. A wicked grin appeared on his face as he spoke to the man."Let Mr. Fijimoto know that he should keep up the great work with my products. Once they are all fully developed, I will have the perfect army to take down the Hokage once and for all." My father chuckled evilly.
The worst thing that could have happened, just happened. I quickly began crawling out of the vent, with Rin trailing behind me. Once I got to the entrance on where we came I jumped out of the vent, landing in the ice cold snow. I quickly stumbled a few feet away and ripped off my mask, puking up bile on to the white snow. My chest burned and I felt like I couldn't breath. Rin walked up behind me and placed one of his hands on my shoulder.
"Mayumi...we need to go report this information immediately." He spoke softly as I shrugged his hand off my shoulder.
"To who Rin?! Care to remember that the person we are supposed to report it to is MY FATHER!" I hissed, my rage and confusion only building in the pit of my stomach. Rin pulled his Anbu mask off, his gaze drifting down to his detailed white and red Wolf mask.
"I...I don't know..." He muttered. My worst nightmare had finally come true. The man who raised me and trained me to be the ninja I am today, was now my enemy.
