Shivers ran over her before she whirled around and froze upon seeing the little girl standing in a standard fur dress that girls of Maia's village wore.
"Y-Y-You're the spirit." Maia stuttered and the little girl walked forward carrying a stuffed wolf in her hand.
Maia jolted backwards. "Why are you running?" The little girl asked tilting her head causing her pink tails to fall to the side. "I saved you." She said and Maia turned to her.
"You took me like you took the rest of the girls." Maia cried and the little girl stopped.
"They're lying to you, aren't you?" The little girl watched Maia who paused.
"What do you mean?" Maia asked.
The little girl removed the ribbon around her neck revealing a gash deep within. "My name is Ava, and I've been saving all the girls they've been trying to sacrifice since they first sacrificed me. They do it to appease their god and I've been trying to collect each girl they were going to sacrifice. I've been trying to save you guys all along." Ava paused as she stared at Maia.
"Where are we?" Maia asked standing up and Ava looked around.
"The other realm. It's where I live because I can't pass over. It's where all the victims go who can't pass over go." Ava looked around before turning back to Maia.
"Am I dead?" Maia asked.
"No, you're in between. If I bring you back, you'll still be alive, but I can't bring you somewhere else besides the village. And that is dangerous to do." Ava watched Maia.
"So, I have an offer for you." Ava said and Maia nodded.
"My plan is to end these sacrifices for the last time, but I need help to do that. I'm just a little girl after all, so are you in?" Ava smiled at Maia.
"I'm in."
