Fern smiled as she shut the door and set the candy bowl down before turning off the porch light to let the kids know she was done. It was beginning to get dark and Fern was ready to head off to bed.
She had been handing out candy all night since the kids came out and now, she was ready for bed.
Just as Fern got into her nightgown, she heard a thump upstairs making her pause. Fern looked up her stairs. She was home by herself tonight, her roommate was gone for the weekend to see their significant other.
Fern was by herself. Going into the kitchen she grabbed her bat before creeping upstairs to investigate what it was. Fern went down to where the thump came from. . . her roommates room.
Fern opened the door before going in as her eyes landed on her roommate's black cat sitting on the dresser with a plastic vase on the floor.
"It's just you." Fern said and the cat meowed as Fern picked up the vase before setting the cat down and giving the cat some food before she left the room happy to have not used the bat but completely unaware of what really knocked the vase down.
