chapter 21

Genova's Point Of View 

Its been 72 hours since the council announced that Matt was going to be killed. That approximately 3 days, though for some reason Matt doesnt even seem scared of the fact that he was given a death penalty. For the past couple of days you could say that I haven't been in the best shape. 

That whole 72 hours I have been thinking of ways to somehow persuade to call off the death penalty for Matt but they simple shake me off and continue the sentence. Ive been racking my brain as to why they wont just listen to me.

 I have been an honourable individual in the council, whenever I said something the court would take my word for it. But since they weren't listening to me now. I am forced to believe that who ever told the council about Matt knowing about us beings must be at a higher status than I was.

I stared at the mortal that laid beside me with no hint of fright in any part of his body. He just laid there looking like he had no care in the world. I found it peculiar that someone so powerless could be so brave while I had my coward moments but I had supernatural abilities. It was ironic how this very world worked. ' Matt ' I whispered catching his attention. 

' How are you not scared ? I mean if I were you id be shitting my pants ' I said causing Matt to chuckle. ' I dont know Genova something inside me is telling me that I shouldnt be scared ' Matt muttered looking at me. ' I wish I could just become a vampire so I wouldn't have to be killed ' Matt said scanning my face. ' As much as I want that to happen its too risky ' I muttered. ' How so ? ' Matt asked. 

' Well Matt its pretty complicated to scientifically understand, but coming from my own knowledge it's really dangerous for a mortal to become a vampire. 99% of humans that try to become one die within an hour of being bitten. It has something to do with our vampire bite that gives off some type of acid and mortals low supply of blood cells ' I explained. 

' Wait hold on 99% ' Matt asked dumb founded. ' yeah ' I nod. ' So your saying only 1% of humans bitten actually pull through and survive ? ' Matt gasped. I nodded in response. ' So all of those Vampires during that meeting are the 1% that survived ? ' he asked. 

' Except those who were born Vampires yes ' I answered. ' Well that's a lot of 1% vampires then ' Matt chuckled. ' Not really you have to take into account that there are 7 billion people in the world ' I retorted. ' Still 1% isn't a lot, do you personally know anyone who's survived ? ' Matt asked. ' Yeah only one though which is Jessica ' I said causing Matt to sit up. ' Jessica was mortal ?, but she seems so powerful and knowledgeable like she has been a vampire all her life ' Matt said.

  ' Yeah well when Jessica was turned she was so determined to learn to what extent her powers went to she pushed and pushed herself to know and learn everything ' I explained. ' How'd she turn ? ' Matt asked. I pulled myself up so that I was able to sit in front of him directly. ' Back in the day when Jessica was mortal she use to date Shawn. 

During their relationship Jessica knew what he was and she accepted it, but the longer they dated the more Jessica wanted to turn into a vampire. Shawn didn't want her to though. But after begging and begging Shawn he finally obliged and turned her. When she was turning Jessica screamed bloody murder. 

She was saying how it was hurting really bad like a fire had spread all throughout her body. It got so bad that Shawn started to believe she wasn't going to make it and that her body was refusing the toxins. Her heart stopped beating for about a minute and by then Shawn had broken down crying; then Jessica opened her eyes and they were pure blood red ' I explained. 

' Why did it hurt so bad for Jessica ? ' Matt asked. ' We didn't know then but when  mortal turns into a Vampire and they experience what is called the ring of fire it's because they're developing a stronger value of power that no regular vampire obtains. 

So like you heard before Jessica can sense the inside beings of vampires that's her stronger power. Jessica was a mortal who got turned into one of the most powerful vampires living so we believe that it was fate that Jessica and Shawn met, so that he was able to turn her into the being she is now ' I finished glancing at Matt who was intrigued. 

' Why are you so interested '  I laughed. ' no reason ' he answered bringing his hand up to mine. Every time Matt and I touched I feltl this warmth in me that I cant explain. Ive never felt it with anyone else..

not even Cameron. Which makes me wonder. Is he really my mate ?.

I broke out of my thoughts watching as Matt stared down at our hands making me wonder if he felt the warmth that I did as well. But that accusation soon broke off when Matt opened his mouth. ' Genova can I drink your blood ? ' Matt whispered.

 I took no time in thinking as to why he wanted to. I just nodded agreeing to the request. I turned to my side and opened up my bed side table drawer and retrieved a metal rod that I kept there in case I needed a weapon. 

I brought it up to my neck and stabbed into the side of it. I hissed in pain as I felt my blood glide down my neck. There was no worry in staining my sheets as Matt leaned in and connected his tongue to my neck gliding it up and down the skin allowing goosebumps to form. 

Matt licked around the wound placing a gentle kiss on it before connecting his mouth directly to the wound applying a bit of pressure as he sucked on my neck . I couldn't help but allow my eyes to fluttered close as a soft moan escaped from in between my lips. 

Matt kept sucking before the wound healed itself back up; then kissed it when he was done. Matt then brought his hand up to his mouth and wiped the side of it before getting up. ' Where are you going ? ' I asked. ' I think I'm gonna walk around for a bit ' Matt said.

 I glanced out my window seeing that it was quite dark outside now worrying me. ' It's pretty dark out now Matt, who knows what could happen to you out there ' I explained. ' Im dying in a week babe ' Matt sighed ' whatever happens to me out there will not affect what happens in a few days from now ' he finished before quickly placing a peck upon my lips leaving me all alone in my room. 

Matt's Point Of View 

Don't worry Genova we'll be together.

I'll do what ever it takes.

I took my phone out and held it to my ear.
