Keaton’s POV

School had finished. Yay! Probably the weirdest day I had. Yep definitely. I was waiting by the cherry tree, not for Peyton but for Wes and Drew. My back moulded on to the trunk of the tree, relieving the weight on my feet. The dark clouds were still hung over the once indigo sky. A lone seagull roamed the skies. That’s what I felt like now. I don’t know why but after Skyler snapped at me, I feel different and lonely.

“What the hell Keaton? Blow me off why don’t you!” The familiar voice shrieked from behind me. Pushing myself off the rigid wood, I met a face which seemed to shoot daggers. It looked like she had been crying, her foundation was patchy and mascara had run down her face. An image flashed through my head- Peyton was sitting in the back of the canteen, ripping a tissue up being consoled by her friends. A smile escaped my lips, receiving ‘the evils’ from her.

“Well other things came up.” In the distance I spotted Drew’s black pick-up truck turning the corner. Peyton came back in to my view. Something collided with my face. Oh, she didn’t. After recovering from her bitch slap, I raised an eyebrow at her then pushed past to get to Drew’s car. He rolled down the window, a smile on his face.

“I saw that Keat. Way to get it off with the ladies.” I sniggered slightly.

“She just wants me so bad.” Drew let out a light laugh. When I looked back Peyton was surrounded by a group of girls.

“Hey get in. Wes said to pick him up at the skate park.” I abided with him and clambered in the car, crossing the safety belt over my chest.

“The whole weekend just Emblem 3.” I commented high fiving Drew as we started off towards the skate park. All the colours merged together, the only noise I heard was the revs of the engine and the soft murmur of the radio, which had been turned down low.

“So why’d you make a girl cry Keat?” Drew commented a laugh passing through it. We pulled up next to the skate park.

“Well, I can’t cancel plans with people I want to be with. Didn’t like her anyway.” My head was rested on my hand. The car smelled of coffee. “Did you go to Starbucks before you got me?” I asked, mouth-watering at the smell of it. Drew face cracked in to a smile.

“Yeh. It’s in the back Sherlock!” Quickly I unclipped my belt and spun round to look in the back. On the floor were three cups of coffee.

“Which ones mine?” The polystyrene tray was sat in my hands.

“That one.” He pointed to the one on its own row. The cup warmed my hands. The smell of cappuccino filled my lungs. I took a sip.

“Ow. Oh god it burns!” I swallowed the liquid, causing my throat to throb in pain. Drew was starting to laugh his head off. One glance at him and he stopped.

“Who’s the girl?” Drew pointed out my window to Wesley and… Skyler talking on the side of the ramp.  I placed my coffee and the tray down on the backseat. My heart sank. Skyler let out a short laugh. It was a proper laugh. I flung open the door and literally jumped out.

“Keaton where you going?” Drew shouted after me, getting out the car himself.

“Hey Wes, stay away from Skyler would you?” His head snapped up to look at me. Skyler brought herself to her feet and gave us some space. Whether she was giving us some space or just didn’t want to be around me anymore. Wes made his way over to me.

“Why? Look at her she’s lonely. Apparently you aren’t helping either.” Wes argued. I had to admit it I wasn’t.

“Look I need to talk to her alone. So go to the beach and I’ll see you there.” Wesley nodded, raising an eyebrow.

“She’s not interested in us Keat. She doesn’t listen to us.” He whispered as he strode past. I heard him greet Drew and explain. Wes knew I liked this girl. But she didn’t like me at all. Drew’s car sped away towards the beach. Skyler was facing away from me, fiddling with her board. A few drops of water fell around the place. I hate the rain.

“Hey Skyler.” I tried. She didn’t respond. The guys that were here started to disperse as the rain got heavier. “Skyler I’m sorry if you have a problem with me. Can you just tell me what it is?” I shrugged my jacket on tighter, the rain falling slightly heavier.

“I don’t have a problem with you.” She whispered, if she hadn’t turned around and faced me I wouldn’t have known she had spoken.

“Then why do you act like this to me?” She hugged her board to her chest and looked me in the eyes, her head on a tilt slightly. A sigh escaped her perfectly shaped lips.

“I can’t trust you as a person. You are like this two faced person who doesn’t know who they actually are.” Skyler paused for a second; letting me take it in what she had just announced. “You didn’t have to have a go at Wesley like that. He was being a nice guy and talking to me about me.” I looked away from her, taking in a deep breath.

“I’m sorry. I flipped and my brother is a ladies man.” She smirked, and then pulled her beanie on to her head more.

“Ok. But your brother seems to know who he really is!” Skyler pushed past me, bumping in to my shoulder. And again Keaton, you really do have a way with the ladies.

~ Really would love for people to tell me what they think. It depresses me that people dont comment and vote. Makes me doubt myself as a writer adn my writings not good enough.~
