"Hello this is Veronica Richards on Nick Austin's phone. How can I help?" I answered in just above a whisper, as to not wake anybody.
"Veronica, this is Sargent Peters, we've found the mother of the child in your custody." A male's voice informed, allowing me to sigh in relief.
"Okay, where can we meet her?" I asked in return, walking into my bedroom.
"Come down to the police station, we have her here." He replied and I nodded to myself.
"Okay, we're on our way." I replied hanging up the phone and shaking Nick's shoulder softly.
"Wha... Is that my phone?" He asked, sitting up with his brow furrowed.
"Sorry, the police station called, they have his mom." I whispered, noticing Nick's face soften.
"Oh, okay. I'll throw on a shirt and walk with you." He answered as he stood up and I nodded. I put Jack's clothes and food in a small bag, before throwing on a hoodie from my floor and some shoes. Nick carried Jack while I carried his bag, and we walked the 20 minutes to the police station, walking in to see a woman standing by herself. She had matted blonde hair that had been tied back to form a single ponytail. We were instantly recognised by the policemen, and they pointed us to the woman. You're kidding, right. We walked closer to her, now seeing the bags under her eyes and her eyes were a bright red where they should be white.

"Nick." I whispered, grabbing onto his arm. This woman is not fit to be a mother, she won't take care of him the way I could, the way WE could, I thought as I glanced between him, Jack and the mother.
"I know, I'm thinking the same thing. But there's nothing we can do, if the cops see her as fit, then she's fit." He whispered, staring into my eyes as deep as he could as I felt them start to water.
"Then I can't do it. Here." I whispered back, fighting my tears back as I handed him the bag. "Bye Jack." I whispered to the kid, rubbing his cheek softly as a tear fell from one of my eyes. I walked outside, sitting on a bench outside of the station, allowing more tears to fall. After a couple of minutes I heard the door open, glancing over my shoulder to see Nick walking towards me. He sat down on the bench next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. Letting me cry onto his shoulder.
"Hey. He's going to be okay. I paid the policemen to check up on him once a month, and to help his mom get more healthy." Nick informed, I glanced up at him as my mouth stayed agape.
"You did?" I asked in return and he nodded slightly.
"Of course." He replied, pecking my forehead before helping me stand up. "Com'on, let's head back."

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I heard as I was woken, glancing around my room to see everybody surrounding my bed, including Nick, who had fallen asleep in my bed.
"Good morning." I smiled slightly, sitting up as I took in the scene in front of me.
"We've got presents outside and we're about to make pancakes so take your time and come out. We'll be ready when you do." Avani informed and I nodded as I watched them file out of the room, receiving a big smile from Nick before he left. I climbed out of bed, changing into some baggy jeans and a cropped tank top, before walking out to the kitchen, instantly being hit by Anthony's body giving me a hug.
"Happy birthday Veronica." He smiled and I laughed as I hugged him back.
"Thanks Anthony." I replied, pulling away as I walked over to the others, sitting at the table next to Nick. They started giving me gifts while Noah cooked pancakes. Josh and Nessa bought me a diamond bracelet; Addison gave me a cute, light pink skirt; Dixie (and Charli) bought me some candles; Avani and Anthony gave me a heart necklace, that when you open the heart you see a picture of the two of them inside; and Bryce, Ryland, and Noah all chipped in to buy me a big bouquet of flowers and some Louis Vuittons because "You'd look hot in them" according to Bryce.
"Thank you guys, all, so much. I really love all of these." I smiled to the group as I looked down at all of my gifts.
"Especially ours, right?" Avani smiled and I nodded.
"Oh, yours was my favourite." I laughed, throwing out the wrapping paper and moving the gifts to my room. We ate breakfast and the others started to disperse, moving down to their rooms, while Nick, Ryland and I cleaned up the plates from breakfast.
