Biglang nawala ang hangin sa utak ko ng magsalita si Matthew. "I don't think so." I said, stepping backwards, disgusted with myself at my lack of self control. "I am not interested in revisiting the past with you."
His mouth tilted. "Really, Kathy? Taliwas ang sinabi mo sa naging reaksyon ng katawan mo. What on earth would your current lover say if he saw you clawing at me so lasciviously?"
Natigilan ako sa sinabi ni Matthew. Nakaramdaman ako ng sobrang pagkapahiya. I felt guilty already, ni hindi ko man lang naisip si Angelo ng hinalikan ako ni Matthew. I had no excuses for my behaviour. At hindi ko din alam bakit ko nagawang ibalik ang mga halik niya gayong nag-uumpaw ang galit ko para sa kanya. I hated him for denying the existence of his own child. I hated him for coming back into my life just when I thought I had finally put his rejection behind me.
Huminga ako ng malalim bago nagsalita. "Alam kong sa una palang ay hindi na magwo-work ang ganito. I knew it from the start and yet nagbulag bulagaan ako."
Inayos ni Matt ang sarili at nilagay sa bulsa ang kanyang kaliwang kamay. "What do you mean? Are you backing out from the deal?"
"Yes. Hindi natin magagawa ang project na ito dahil patuloy mong kinakalimutan na this was to be strictly business between us."
"If you do not want to carry through on your commitment you know the consequences. Nabasa mo ang deal at alam mong sa oras na umalis ka sa deal na ito ay may babayaran kang malaki. You read and signed the contract tapos ay bigla kang aalis? This is business Kathy, remember that." Isinandal nito ang katawan sa lamesa.
I glared at him. "I suppose you've done this for a purpose?"
"Do you think that I have forced you into working for me? Binigyan kita ng mahabang oras para basahin ang kontrata. It's your choice not mine."
"You are doing this for revenge, right?" Nanghihina kong sabi. Nakakapagod ng makipagtalo sa taong walang alam kundi ang saktan ka.
"Revenge, Kathy? Why would I do that? Dahil muntik mo na akong maloko? Revenge is not my thing, baby." He smirked.
"Aalis na ako. This is nonsense." Mabilis akong naglakad papunta sa pintuan pero mabilis niya ding naharang ang katawan niya.
"You're not leaving unless I make things clear for you. You will work for me." May diin nitong sabi.
I looked into his gray eyes. Gusto kong malaman niya na hindi ko siya uurungan. I will show him that I am not the same Kathy he met four years ago.
Si Matthew ang unang nagbaba ng tingin ng tumunong ang cellphone nito.
Inayos ko ang sarili ko at mabilis na pinagpatuloy ang paglalakad papunta sa exit ng building.
And this time. I didn't look back.
