"Shit! We're loosing her!"

"Beep!"

"Wh-what?" Mary murmurs, looking all around for answers to where exactly she was. The young woman finds none, there's nothing here. Everything is white, everything is pristine. It is neither hot, nor cold. Neither hungry, nor full. Neither dressed, or undressed. Neither alone, nor yet in company. There is nobody around her, but she feels strangely at peace. What was happening? The last thing she remembers was falling asleep on the operating table, ready to give Francis the kidney that he needed. But now, she's here? Is this it? Is this death? Did something go wrong?

A fog appears around her ankles and shins. She can feel the cool wisps of the non-physical matter all around her feet. They're bare, she wears a soft white dress that stops at her knees, a gentle cardigan wrapped around her arms and waist. Her hair is loose, and a breeze brushes past her. A staircase is revealed towards her.

She gasps, a light blinding her for a moment, before she realises that there's a figure standing at the top of the staircase. The man is faceless and tall, he has dark hair, and wings upon his back.  She hasn't seen his face before, but all the same, she recognises him like she'd recognise Kenna or Greer.

"D-Daddy." she whispers. Her dark eyes fill with tears, and her feet begin to walk up the stairs. The staircase is of none and every physical matter, it is neither cold nor warm, neither hard nor soft. Neither of physical matter or opaqueness of the air. Her feet move, and the higher she walks, the happier she becomes. All the stresses of Francis' illnesses and schooling and her mother and her siblings go flying out the window, removing themselves from her shoulders as she walks. Higher, higher, higher. She doesn't feel like she's actually inclining, the physical proof isn't exactly absolute. There is still the fog, is she in the clouds? Is this it? Is this death? If it was, she liked it indeed.

Her father, growing clearer and clearer and more handsome by the step, he cries as she begins to run to him, feeling like the little girl she never got to be. She goes higher and higher and higher, she can almost touch him-

"Where the bloody hell do you think you're going?" Francis steps out of nowhere. Mary gasps, halting her steps, although she doesn't feel like she's falling either way.

"To Daddy, Francis." she says, looking over his shoulder at the handsome ravenette who smiles at her. Her father, taken away from her so young, they never got even a week together, everybody else had years. "It's time, it's my time." she says, looking from her father to her beau.

"No, it isn't." he whispers, taking her hand. It's warm, material, there. "Mary, we have so much left to do on earth before we die. G-get married, have children, a bucket load of them. Spend the rest of our lives together, watching our children and grandchildren grow up. Then we can die, together. But not now, not soon."

"Francis, you don't understand." Mary whispers. "You can have everything from me if I die now. You can live, and I can-"

"Die?" his voice cracks. "Mary, no. Not yet." he turns to his father. "I'm sorry, sir. I need her for a little bit longer."

"He's right, my Princess. Your time will come, but it is not today. Live your life, I'll always be with you."
