It's been about a month since I've been in Cali.
The first two weeks were a little hard, but Ross and Rydel helped me through it.
My house is four houses down from the Lynch's. It's really convenient since I'm always over there.
It's Saturday afternoon and Ross and I are currently out to lunch.
We don't spend a lot of time together during the week because I still go to school. I decided I didn't want to be homeschooled because I didn't want to miss out on school events like Friday night football or homecoming and stuff like that. Especially since it's senior year.
"So your birthday's coming up in a couple weeks." Ross says.
"I can't believe I'm going to be 18. It's crazy."
"What do you want?"
"Nothing. Just being here in Cali with you is all I need." I answer.
"Come on, there has to be something that you want."
"Not really. I have everything I could ever want." I pause for a second. "Wow that sounded really conceded."
"A little, but I knew what you meant."
When we were done eating, we go for a walk in the city.
I really didn't think I'd be the type of person to like the city, but it turns out I love it.
In front of one of the stores, there's a group of people standing around watching a street performer.
"Let's go check that out." I say walking towards all the people.
As we get closer, I can hear someone playing a guitar and singing. The voice sounds kinda familiar.
We join the group of people and I couldn't believe who was singing.
"Justin?" I say quietly.
Justin is my step brother. When I used to go to my dads when I was little, he would play with me. He's the big brother I've always wanted. We might be step siblings, but he'd do anything for me. He wasn't the best influence though; he dropped out of school and got into drugs and drinking. When he turned 18, he got help with his problems, and moved out here to Cali to basically start over. I haven't seen him in about two years, but I would occasionally talk to him.
He looks around at the crowd of people, and when he sees me, he smiles.
"Do you know him?" Ross asks me.
"Yeah, he's my step brother." I answer.
When he's done singing, people throw money in his guitar case and continue to walk.
Justin stands up, walks over to me, and hugs me.
"What are you doing here?" He asks me.
"I moved here with my mom."
"Cool. Who's this?" He asks looking at Ross.
"This is Ross. My boyfriend."
"It's nice to meet you Ross." Justin says to Ross as he shakes his hand.
"You too." Ross says back.
"So Chelsea, what have you been up to?"
"A lot actually. I went on tour with Ross' band over summer."
"I take it you still sing then."
I smile.
"Yeah."
"Good, I'm glad. You're too talented to not be."
"So what's new with you?" I ask him.
"Not much. I moved out here to do something with the music business, but this is all I've been doing." He answers.
Ross and I look at each other with the same look on our faces.
"I know something you could do." Ross says.
"How would you like to play guitar for my band?" I ask Justin
"Are you serious?!" Justin asks excitedly.
"Yes! You're a really good guitar player and you can sing too."
"Wow. Thank you so much."
We exchange phone numbers, then Ross and I continue to walk around the city.
"So do you have any other surprise family members that I should know about?" Ross asks me jokingly.
I laugh a little.
"I'll let you know."
