We get into 2 teams. The boys separated me and Rydel, they said having both girls on one team wouldn't be fair.
The team I'm on consists of me, Riker, and Ryland; the other team is Rydel, Ross, and Rocky.
"Do you play?" Riker asked me.
"I played a little in middle school and I played freshman year, but I'm not that good."
"Are you competitive?" Ryland asks.
"Not really, but kind of." I answer.
"Well bring the competitive side of you out, we like to win." Riker says smiling.
"Are you guys ready to play, or are we going to stand around and talk?" Rocky asks from the other side of the court.
Ryland serves first, we get a volley going until Rocky tries to spike and was short and and hits the ground on their side.
Ryland's next serve doesn't go over, so they rotate. Rydel serves and Ross plays net, just like me.
"You guys are going to lose." He says.
"Doubt it."
"Wanna bet?"
"Sure, why not." I say
"Loser has to do whatever the winner wants them to." Ross says holding out his hand.
"As long as it's not too extreme, sounds good." I say shaking his hand. "But I'm not that good, so you're probably going to win."
Rydel serves and it falls short over the next, but I was able to bump it up for Riker to set it and Ryland to spike it over.
Rocky was able to save it before the ball hit the ground. Rydel set it up for Ross, and he attempted to spike it, but I jumped up and blocked it and it fell on their side.
Ross looks at me shocked.
"Not very good huh?" He says.
I smile and shrug my shoulders.
"I might have told you a tiny lie."
"Alright."
We continue to play, both teams are pretty good.
When it's my turn to serve, I overhand serve and it goes right to Ross, who is now playing back row. He missed it and we scored a point.
Right now, the score is 7-6 us, and we're playing to 10.
I serve again, this time Rocky bumped it to Rydel, but she didn't bump it hard enough to go anywhere.
My next serve didn't make it over the net.
The next 2 plays, we lost both points, making the score 8-8.
Riker served and it went out of bounds.
8-9.
"Guys, we need one more point, let's do this!" Rocky tells Rydel and Ross.
Ross serves, but it was short, our point.
9-9.
Ryland serves, Rydel bumped it back over the net, Riker bumps it up to Ryland who sets it to me. It was a perfect set, so I take it and jump up and spike it down.
Ross dives for it, but wasn't fast enough, the ball hit the ground.
"Oh yeah, we won!" Ryland yells.
I walk over to Ross and help him up.
"A bet's a bet; what do you want me to do?" He asks.
"I don't know, I'll let you know."
"Good game Chels!" Rydel says walking over to us.
"Thanks, you too!"
We go back into the water until it gets dark.
Once it gets dark, Riker goes over to the picnic area and starts to grill hotdogs and hamburgers. Rydel and I go to the bathroom and change out of our bathing suits.
