Six: Her Decision

NAGISING ako na buo na ang loob ko, napag-isipan ko na kasi ang mga plano ko sa buhay, gusto ko rin naman matulungan ang Papa ko, oo nauunawaan kong nagipit lang siya, na gumawa siya ng paraan. Napagtanto ko, na yun pala ang pinagsisisihan niya nung nakaraan.

Paglabas ko ng kwarto ay tinanong ko kaagad sa nakasalubong kong maid kung nasaan ang Papa ko. Kaya nagtungo na ako sa library, naabutan ko siyang busy sa mga paper works. Masyado siyang busy, kaya hindi niya napansin ang pagdating ko.

I caught his attention by coughing. "Yes, Eunice?" Hindi naka-ligtas sa paningin ko ang panglalalim ng mga mata niya, hindi siguro siya nakatulog. "Pa I've already decided."

FIVE minutes after kong makapag-ayos ay kumatok ang isang maid sa kwarto ko. "Madame your guest is waiting you at the sitting." Napatango nalang ako, at sinabing susunod na ako, so he comes ahead of time, advance siya ng thirty minutes. What do I expect, he is an American, I know that they hate late that's why they are always on time.

Kahapon ay sinabi ko kay Papa na pumapayag na ako, but I didn't tell him my plans. "So what do you want us to discuss?" Tanong ko sa kanya, pagkaalis ng kumuha ng order namin. "Oh come on sweetheart, are you in a hurry?” He ask while he chuckle. How about let's wait for our order first? Let's eat then we'll talk." He said as he pinch his chin with his thumb and forefinger. "Letse, ang daming pasakalye." Mahinang bulong ko sa sarili ko, may appointment pa akong mas importante. "Are you saying something sweetheart?" Tanong pa nito. "Nothing." pag-tanggi ko naman, because I'm sure hindi niya naman naintindihan 'yon. Tumango-tango lang siya na sumang-ayon sa sagot ko.

"So what do you for a living? Or your fast time?" Curious na tanong nito matapos uminom ng iced tea. "Don't act as if this is our first date and we’re going to have this so called getting-to-know stage, we're just getting married, so let's go straight to the point, because I hate playing games." Maanghang na sabi ko na nag-paawang sa bibig niya, I am a good but bitchiness can come out on me when provoked. Dahil sawa na ako sa pagiging sobrang mabait, I should also bring out the bitch in me.

He chuckled at hindi pinahalata ang pagkapahiya. "Oh you want straight to the point, so you agree to pay your father's debt?" he ask, na parang pinamumukha sa’kin ang mga utang nga Papa ko.

"Yes, so don't overthink, we will not get married because we are in love with each other, I'm doing this for convenience." sagot ko naman, dahil baka isipin niyang pumayag ako, not just because of my Father’s debts.

"So do I." He said shaking his hand as he cross his legs. "Great, then what are we going to talk about?" Sang-ayon ko sa sagot niya at pag-iiba ng usapan, masyado pa kasing madaming pasakalye.

"You want straight to the point, do you want a simple wedding? Or a grand wedding? You know something like a beach wedding, a garden, because you know I can give you what you want." Pagmamayabang na tanong nito.

"A simple one," halata ang gulat niya sa naging sagot ko, siguro kung in love ako sa kanya I would prefer a grand wedding, but this just a marriage for convenience, nakakahinayang at nakakawalang gana lang. "And besides, we are only playing this game so please don't spend too much money, I don’t want you to invest for worthless matters."

"If that what you want." The only thing said. "And oh, before I forgot, I want it the soon, a month or two? But the sooner the better, because I have a lot of things to do." I said frankly

"We can have it in a month, is that alright?" Pag sang-ayon niya naman.

"Great, so anything you want to add?" pahabol na tanong ko.

"Oh yeah, a month is short, I want to know, where do you want to live, after the marriage?" Pilyang ngumiti ako, I have my plans man, and you’re not part of it. "We'll cross the bridge when we get there, we can live wherever we want." Makahulugang sagot ko.

Siguro kung naayos ko na lahat ng mga kailangan kong asikasuhin, I bribn him or ask him to get married in Vegas, malapit nalang naman yun, para mabilis na at wala nang kung anu-ano pang proseso na pagdaanan. "Okay, let's arrange everything within this month." Pahabol niya pa.

"If that so, I let's call it a day, I want to go home," I said fixing my purse.                                                  

"Are you in a hurry sweetheart, we can still have some chitchat, and go to other places you wanted to go." Umiling ako as a response, “I still have more important things to do at home." Pagkasabi ko nun ay, tinawag niya na ang waiter to ask for the bill, he gave his card, and after a few minutes ay nakabalik na ang waiter. "Let's go then," pag-aya niya as he stand, go to my direction to and guide me all the way out.

We barely talk while we are on our way to my father's house. Nang makarating naman kami sa bahay ay hindi na siya pumasok, he just wait hanggang sa makapasok ako sa loob.

My father is not around when I came, maybe this is the perfect time. I get my phone and dialed the embassy, for the follow up of my appointment.
