Summer before Deathly Hallows

It wasn't that I wasn't thinking about what I did or what comes next. It was that I didn't want to. Being with Neville, in this beautiful place, was making it all too easy.

Neville and I sit in the biggest field of flowers I have ever seen. Not only were they beautiful but the smell was amazing.
"So." Neville says. He sits next to me and picks a small flower and starts fiddling with it in his fingers. "How do you like it here?" He asks.
"Oh Neville, it's amazing, it's heaven on earth truly." I reply with the biggest smile I can achieve.
"You know how we said we would travel the world?"
"Yes, of course I remember." Neville replies.
"And how you said that when we see the whole world we would find the most beautiful place, then you would propose and we would get married there?" I ask.
"Yes, I can't wait to do that." He says. He gently holds my hand in his.
"Well I can't imagine anywhere being better then this place." I say.

I look out at the hills of flowers and grass. The sun is slowly starting to kiss the land and is turning the universe a gorgeous shade of orange and pink. I turn behind me to look at the beautiful cottage Neville has called his home all these years. It might be just his home and not a huge deal to him, but to me it is everything. I had lived so many years trapped behind cold walls of stone and marble. Locked in rooms with low light. I hadn't grown up in such warmth and beauty. So many people say they would do anything to be rich, live in a mansion, grow up important. All I wanted was love, family, and joy. Neville's childhood home was all of those things. It was truly Heaven to me.

"Well if that is what you want, when the time is right I will ask you to marry me. Right here." Neville beams. I lean against his chest. We watch the sunset together in a comfortable silence. I would do anything to never leave this spot, but I know my life will never be that easy.

Augusta returned not long after Neville and I finished watching the sunset.
"Molly wouldn't let me leave without her home cooking so I guess we are having her famous Rumbledethumps, how does that sound?" Augusta asks the two of us.
"Sounds delicious!" I say. I take in a deep breathe. "Smells delicious! May I help set the table?" I ask.
"So polite, of course. Neville, be a dear and help Serenity set the table would you?" Augusta asks.

After finishing the delicious rumbledethumps and leftover porridge, Neville shows me to my room. Hermione had apparently brought all my belongings from school to the Burrow so Augusta was able to retrieve them when she visited Molly. I was beyond thankful for this as I had been wearing the clothes I wore yesterday still and was dying to get into my pajamas. That night I lay in a very comfortable bed, in a warm room, in a house that felt like home. Yet I couldn't bring myself to shut my eyes. Sleep was the last thing on my mind. Now the only thing that ran through my head were the worries I had been trying so hard to forget. I take a risk and pull myself out of bed. I try incredibly hard to sneak through the hall without making any noise. I reach the door of Neville's room and let myself in, softly shutting the door behind me.

"Serenity?" I hear Neville whisper.
"Sorry, I couldn't sleep." I say. I squint so that I can see him better. He lifts the blanket in his bed up to reveal a space next to him. Inviting me to join him. I shuffle my way over to the bed and crawl into it. He covers me with the comforter and I immediately feel the warmth of it, his body heat lingering on it warms me to my core. We lay together in his bed staring at each other face to face.
"Why couldn't you sleep?" He asks.
"It finally hit me. Everything, ya know?" I ask
"Yeah.... I know." He replies. Looking at me with worry.

"Draco said everything is fine, that it's ok I am here and he is safe. How can that be? I'm not sure if I believe him." I say. Neville looks down deep in thought.
"I don't know how but I'm sure he isn't lying to you, hiding some truth maybe, but lying no. Did he say anything else in his letter?" He asks.
"He said I have to return to Hogwarts next year, to keep up his story." I say with a confused look.
"Hmm interesting, well I guess we are going to Hogwarts for our 7th year then. I'm a little worried about how it will be without Dumbledore though. Why am I worried it may be worse than when umbridge was there?" He exclaims. I just nod in agreement.

"What is Harry going to do now?" I ask.
"He said something about Dumbledore sending him to do something but I'm not sure what." Neville replies. "I did find out that Bill Weasley is marrying Fluer though! In a month!"
"Wait really!?!? That's amazing! I hope them the best." I exclaim.
"Want to be my date?" He asks.
"To what?" I ask.
"To their wedding silly!" He replies. Nudging me playfully. I smile at him, but then I bite my cheek nervously.
"I would love to Nev, but do they want me there? Would Harry be ok seeing me?" I ask.
"We were invited so yes, and It isn't Harry's wedding so I don't think we care." He replies. He kisses my nose gently.
"Hey, let's talk more tomorrow. How about we sleep now, you need it." He says pulling me into an embrace.

I lay my head on Neville's chest. Listening to his heart beat loudly underneath my ear. He softly draws circles on my back with his finger and I can feel my eyelids feel heavier and heavier. The last thing I feel is Neville kissing the top of my head, then nothing. Just sleep.
