Battle of Hogwarts part 2

Deathly Hallows

The bridge was a large job to accomplish but Seamus assured me he knew what he was doing. I just hoped he could blow things up on purpose instead of just by accident. We finished preparations and as I was checking the last few placements on the edge of the bridge I heard the pounding of feet on the ground.

I stand up and walk a few steps towards the sound, squinting my eyes to see better in the low lit night. That's when I see 100s of death eaters running towards the castle come into view. I stumble backwards slightly at the sight in front of me.

In the short moments I had to turn around and run I just stand there like a statue, watching death approach me. My trust now lying in the shield the order placed around the school. The minute the death eaters reach the shield they disintegrate into nothing. The rest of the army stops in their tracks as they watch 3 fellow members disappear.

"Yeah! You and whose army!?!?" I yell at them while laughing. Yes, the shield is working. Maybe we didn't need to destroy the bridge after all. Just then I hear a large crackling noise.
"Shit."

The shield starts to slowly crack and fall apart till the once blue glow it held completely vanishes. A single death eater takes a step forward, passing the spot that his comrades met their demise.
"Shit shit shit." I continue to say as I high tail it out of there. I'm running so fast I almost forgot to ignite the explosives. With the flick of my wand I light them as I sprint across the bridge.

I see Seamus at about the halfway point.
"Run!" I yell.
"Neville?" He questions as he turns towards me. I grab his collar and drag him along until his feet match my running pace. Then I push him in front of me. I feel the crumbling of the bridge under my feet. The death eaters are almost at arms length now. I make a split decision.

"Jump Seamus!" I exclaim.
"Wait what?" He questions, but before he can argue I quickly push him with enough force to launch him forward. The bridge falls beneath my feet and so do all the death eaters on it.

"Neville!" I hear Seamus yell as I fall. I'm able to grab the arm he has extended. With a strong pull I'm able to grab the pavement and lift myself onto stable ground again.
"Thanks mate."
"No problem." Seamus replies.

We couldn't exactly celebrate any victory, although we had succeeded at blowing up the bridge and getting rid of many death eaters, explosions and the sounds of battle could be heard all around us.
"Serenity." I mumbled as I had remembered she was on her way to the greenhouses. That side of Hogwarts was now completely covered in flames.
"I'm sure she's fine, she's a strong girl. We have to get back to Mcgonagall!" Seamus yells at me as I stand staring at the flames growing and completely engulfing anything left alive.

"Neville!" Seamus is now shaking my shoulders.
"We have to get back, we can't just stand here it's too dangerous. I'm worried too ya know." He explains. I look down at my friend who is visibly biting his cheeks and clenching his fists.
"Luna is in the castle too." He finally says.

....

By my second trip to the greenhouses I barely make it out in time before a spell sets the classrooms on fire.
"Guess that's all the supplies I'm going to be able to get." I say to myself outloud.

As I make my way down the halls they are now filled with screams, battle yells, pain, death. No more running around nonsensical. Just death eaters fighting, killing, and destroying everything in their path. Luckily they weren't expecting the students to put up a fight so we have for the most part caught them off guard.

I turn the last corner to see my old friend Hannah being struck down by a spell.
"No!" I yell as I watch her fall to the ground and reveal the death eater that stuck her.
