finally, taeyong had a whole free day to himself. instead of being the introverted individual that he usually was, he decided to take a stroll through the city. because what's better than to clear your mind by taking a walk?

or maybe it was an excuse to get away from his mind. his mind was definitely playing unfunny tricks on him. he wanted to escape it...

what was he escaping exactly?

he wasn't falling back into his depressive state, that's for sure. besides, it has been years since he had depression. of course sometimes, he would find himself struggling to get out of bed, but that could always just be laziness or lack of interest in any physical activity he had to do that day.

he remembered the first thing that happened the second he got home from the airport that day.

*flashback*

'taeyong!? what the fuck are you doing here!?' his sister raced out of the car once she saw taeyong dragging his feet the the airport's pick up zone after calling his sister for help. 'what were you thinking!?'

but his sister didn't expect him to throw himself on her in pure desperation, his tears coming out all at once the second his face was deep in her shoulder.

'he left me, sis!' he wept, his voice shaky and his breathing intensely out of place.

'jaehyun?' his sister, although in shock, wrapped her arms around her brother, unsure of what to do as she had never seen his brother this devastated.

and his sister's concern grew as he wouldn't eat anything, would be in his room all day, and never smile. this continued for the next few months until his mother forced him to attend therapy sessions, begging for him to let what happened go.

but nobody understood it. nobody understood the aching void that grew inside of him. he simply didn't want to live without his other half.

*end of flashback*

taeyong shook those thoughts from his head, finding a way to distract himself.

at last, his final decision was the train. although it was crowded of people going home from work or school kids returning from school, he realised that the worse case scenario was he'd end up on the other side of korea. then again, it wasn't as if he was exactly complaining.

he whipped out his pass, entering the station and quickly making his way to the nearest platform. he raced to the stopping train, allowing people to get out as he squished through the people.

finally, he squished into the train until he was against the window, which he was thankful for. he reached for window, placing his palm on the glass as he watched the world go by. cars, buildings, people, movement around him.

but then, the train was coming to a halt at another station. another train was already stopped across him as he prepared for the awkward glances from those in the other train.

he glanced first, watching the less crowded train, wishing he was in there instead.

but that's when his eyes tricked him again.

goosebumps sent through his body as he observed a young man sitting down, headphones in his ear as he looked up at the sky.

taeyong...it can't be, taeyong.

his eyes were glued to the man, and it didn't retract from him once the man noticed taeyong peering at him.

their eyes met.

and taeyong's breathing became heavier.

is...is it really him?

no...

it...can't be.

'j-jaeh-,' but he soon realised the train had began moving. but the two remained in intense eye contact until they were no longer visible to each other.

it couldn't be, taeyong. he isn't here anymore.

'pull yourself together. pull yourself together, fuck!' he muttered to himself desperately, feeling his chest become heavy.

'it wasn't him.'
