'why didn't you tell me this!?' doyoung almost shrieked, their arms linked as per usual as they strolled along the active streets of the city as the sky painted a purple tone, something taeyong had deeply missed.
taeyong felt his eyes drop to his feet as he fell deep into his mind, the corner of his lips curling into a sheepish smile. then, he finally caught his gaze with doyoung's, the younger's expression clearly displaying utter confusion.
'you have a whole soulmate, taeyong. i didn't even think that existed.' doyoung gasped in awe, him gazing down the street. 'and you think you see him everywhere?'
'well, it stopped since the last time i saw him. that was months ago.' taeyong sighed deeply, slowing down his stroll.
'gosh. that must've hurt so much. you know, being separated like that from your soulmate.' doyoung comtinued, squishing his best friend's arm comfortingly.
'yeah, it really did.' taeyong paused before shaking it off. 'but it was years ago anyways. i got over it.'
he wasn't necessarily lying. but then again, his heart refused to fall in love with another. it just felt so impossible to replace his love for the man.
'that's why you never made it official with johnny. and...you're still in love with him, right?'
yes. forever.
'i don't know.' taeyong lied, giving his best friend a small smile. 'i guess i really should've given johnny a go.'
'or maybe your heart just won't allow it.' doyoung stopped in his tracks, connecting eyes with the older.
'what?'
'what if...we tried to find him?'
'what are you talking about?'
'gosh, taeyong, as if you have never tried to search him up or something. who knows? we couldn't find his social media or something.'
doyoung was extremely correct. taeyong had never once searched him up...in fear of further heartbreak. he would've rather not watched his every move of social media, every move that he wasn't there for. and what if he had found someone else? could he really deal with it?
he made a vow to himself to never search him up or seek for him on the internet to protect himself.
'so what do you say?' doyoung wuestioned, his eyes shaking with exhilaration.
'i...don't know...' taeyong replied, retracting his eyes from the younger's.
'come on, yongie! we can found out if he's really here or n-!'
'no.' taeyong finally snapped. 'i can't.'
doyoung unlinked his arms from his best friend's, obviously wanting to give the older space.
'sorry. i didn't mean to push it.'
taeyong took a deep breath before holding doyoung's hand and dragging him to continue their stroll.
'no, i'm sorry. it's just i would rather not know. i just pray he's doing great where he is.' taeyong comforted to concerned boy, rubbing his hand with his thumb. 'but thank you for listening. i never told anybody any of this.'
doyoung's eyes finally returned his twinkle as he intertwined their fingers. 'serious? ah, this has got to be the first time you have ever opened up to me! feeling honoured, not going to lie.'
the two at last linked arms again, the late dusk sky blanketing over them as they continued to converse.
