his legs were slowly failing him, him stumbling on the walls of every building.

the 2 am wind ached him, the icy breeze cracking his dehydrated lips as his eyes betrayed him, blurring his vision entirely.

despite the distant noise of cars and clubs that were still functioning, the streets were dark and gloomy, quiet and terrifying.

but that was the least of taeyong's worries. whether he would get kidnapped was not even a problem anymore.

as he continued to walk near his apartment, he felt somebody's presence behind him, watching his every move.

'if you want to kill me, don't waste your time and just do it.' he spoke out, his words still slurred.

just do it already.

'taeyong.'

right now!? did he really fucking need this right now!?

he wanted to throw up, crash on the floor and let the soil beneath him to swallow him up.

he had just about enough, but he expected it. he expected his mind to betray him, his ears and vision to play these tricks on him again.

fine. let's play.

he switched around, not without a deep breath in, and went full speed ahead on the figure in the dark.

he had to confront it once and for all. he had to tell himself that it was all just a play. just a mind trick.

that jaehyun was gone.

and there he was, right under the streetlight, his beloved. his beautiful love, one that made the sky blue, the birds sing, and calm him down entirely.

everything was alright when he was around.

god he was so beautiful, so precious, so ethereal.

'taeyong.' jaehyun repeated. his eyes were completely red, the eye bags in his eyes so visible. he looked entirely weary, almost mirroring taeyong's horrified expression.

but what he didn't expect was taeyong to throw his arms around him, initiated a hug after so so long.

'god, i miss you so much, jaehyun,' taeyong wailed, his face digging into his chest as he completely sobbed in utter sorrow and despair.

'everything was so perfect when you were with me, jaehyun.' he continued, tightening the hug.

christ, he felt so real. too real. and that's what ached taeyong so much more. the wound in his heart was getting so much bigger, opening up and spilling out blood as he broke down on his chest, his fingers digging into the taller's back.

'i want to be with you forever, wherever you are in the world, jaehyun.'

it was his only wish ever. if he could have that one wish, there was nothing more that could make him happier.

'i love you so much. so fucking much,' taeyong continued to wail, gripping his shirt, damping his lover's shirt.

but it was hurting so much. too much.

he shoved the figure away before turning away and racing off, as fast as his dying feet could take him.

'i'm here taeyong. i'm here right now! why can't you see that!' jaehyun desperately called out. 'i'm here! please!'

he hated it. he hated listening to the voice.

it only gave him more false hope.

false hope that it was really him.

but this time, he felt. way. too. real.

was...that really you, jaehyun?
