taeyong

today was finally the day. after weeks of thinking and arguing with himself, he finally managed to get himself to message his ex-best friend. he had to make things right once and for all.

he was prepared for anything or everything: doyoung not wanting to speak to him, doyoung not wanting anything to do with him anymore or being just acquaintances and nothing more but that.

whether it was going to be painful or not did not matter. what mattered is that he had asked for forgiveness and lifted the burden off of his shoulders. besides, doyoung deserved it.

but he forgot about his anxiety; every step he took closer to their favourite cafe was a wave of apprehension.

at last, taeyong saw doyoung in their usual seat, doyoung calmly scrolling through his phone as he waited for taeyong's arrival.

deep breath. you got this.

he clenched his fists with anxiety as he approached the table, doyoung finally lifting his eyes off the screen and gazing at the sitting male in front of him.

in his eyes, he seemed as if he was somewhat happy to see his former best friend, but his body language didn't. he shifted uncomfortably as he placed his phone gently on the table.

'taeyong,' he greeted in a monotone.

'doyoung.' taeyong replied, giving him a weakened no teeth smile.

'so, what's happening? you've been good?' doyoung initiated a conversation, although he retracted his eyes from the older.

'um, i've been ok.' taeyong responded softly, his eyes shaking with nerve. '...you?'

'great.' doyoung nodded his head. 'so what are we here to talk about? it's only been a few months.'

'doyoung,' taeyong decided enough was enough, diving right into the topic. 'i'm sorry for everything. i was a very shit friend that evening and i didn't mean what i said. i'm not asking for us to be friends again but just to apologise for my mistakes.'

doyoung finally stopped shifting, leaning back on his chair as he crossed his arms in thought, deep, deep thought. the pause causes taeyong to begin shaking his leg repeatedly, nervous as to what the male in front of him would respond, despite being prepared for it.

'look,' doyoung finally connected his eyes with taeyong, leaning forward again. 'i thought about what you said. and to be very honest, i hadn't been a good friend either. i really did seem to care more about my followings and social media status more than my own friends.'

well, taeyong was expecting anything but this.

'it meant a lot to me that i didn't really care about your feelings. johnny spoke to me about how you seemed way more absent-minded and rather unsettled. talking about seeing somebody? anyways it made you seem extremely uneasy.'

'yeah...i guess so. but it doesn't really matter anymore...'

'i just wish i was there for you more. and i apologise for that. i hope you can forgive me.'

taeyong immediately waved his hand in protest. 'ah no- no you don't need to apologise. i was just dealing with some nonsense but i'm fine. i'm better now.'

'i'm really glad we spoke this out. even after several months.' doyoung finally stated, his infamous smile at last appearing in his rabbit like face, something that taeyong had deeply missed. 'i can agree we have both forgiven each other?'

'yes.' taeyong's face relaxed finally, his legs still. 'i missed you a lot.'

'me too.' doyoung's face morphed into a comforting expression, slipping his hands into his now best friend's sweaty hands. 'i think you should also talk to the others too. especially johnny.'

now, taeyong wasn't ready to show his face to johnny after what he had said. that was an arrow to the heart, the ugliest thing he had ever said to somebody. he doubt johnny would even listen to him after that.

'ah, i don't know,' taeyong slipped his hands away, rubbing them on his pants to get rid of the sweating. 'i really don't think he'll forgive me at all.'

'taeyong, to be honest, i think you hurt him the most. but, there's no denying that he misses you a lot. you really should talk to him. he'll forgive you.'

'i don't know...' taeyong shifted uncomfortably, allowing his back to sink into the seat.

doyoung threw the male a warning expression, putting his hand out for the his best friend to connect with him. 'let's walk. we have a lot to catch up on.'
