Second Chance - Chapter 40

Dylan’s peripheral vision moved up from the beautiful white horse to its rider, he was stupefied to see his father , Michael waving at him and his gaze landed to the horse beside Michael’s and saw that its rider was his mother, Tiffany. He was gladden to see his parents bringing a large troop of armies to his rescue but at the same time, he was full of apprehension that he may have cause his parents danger for them to be here.

Suddenly, a thought came flooding across his mind, how did those zombies managed to appear during the light of day when they were only able to come out when the sun goes down? There must be some form of spell being cast on them by Wilfred in order for them to do so, and who did Wilfred learn from to be able to cast and recite spell remains a mystery to him.

Michael and Tiffany‘s horses galloped towards Dylan and stopped right next to him. Dylan was delighted to see his parents that he enveloped the both of them into a huge embrace. It’s good to see you again, mum and dad, but how did you know about this war? Son, we are your parents, we could feel your sentiments through our mind link. We have been feeling your mixture of emotions of fear, anxiety and worrisome apprehension lately. I am just glad that we are here in time to provide more assistance, it took us a rather long time to gather a huge army of vampires from all over the world, and they were willing to offer their help. Before the family could carry on their conversation, Michael saw an incoming group of four zombies heading their way with sabres in their hands. Michael quickly pushes Tiffany aside and met the incoming threat head on with Dylan. Michael and Dylan, with their back against each other took down the four zombies effortlessly. Two zombies lunged at Dylan cornering him in the centre, Dylan and Michael dodged the blow at the same time, causing the fatal blow to slain off the heads of the two zombies at the other end. The two zombies were shocked that they have missed their targets and have mistakenly slain their friends by accident. Before they could turn around, Dylan unleashed his power of fire onto them, incinerating them into nothing but ashes.

Although Michael has brought along thousands of vampires armies and they managed to slain hundreds of zombies and skeletons, no one was able to get close to slaughtering Wilfred. He was swift and has the ability to fly, which made things really complicated. Michael, Dylan, Vonda, Ciara, Caleb, Luke and Jerediah decided to combine their powers to take down Wilfred. They surrounded Wilfred into a circle, with Dylan and Vonda conjuring a combine fireball to unleash on him but Wilfred murmured a spell and his own fireball consumed the fireball of Dylan and Vonda causing the two of them to stumble backwards. Michael, Caleb, Jerediah and Luke lunged at Wilfred with their sword but Wilfred cast a spell causing the metal in their swords to melt away in their hands, sending a sizzling incinerating pain in their hands, they brought their hands up and saw that there were burn marks on their hands. All of you are no match for me. I will slain all of you and torture you Dylan, he pointed to Dylan who was standing there with his mouth open wide. Dylan I shall slice your flesh with the silver blade of my sword and let your blood ooze out slowly until you are dried up and no blood shall be given to you.

Wilfred let out a menacingly cacophonic hiss and stalked over to Michael, Vonda, Caleb, Luke, Jerediah, Ciara and Dylan with his sword. Ciara I have given you a choice but you still choose him over me, I will make you pay for your choice today. All of a sudden, Ciara felt a slight pain in her tummy which she decided that it was too insignificant to alert Dylan at this time of battle. She took a deep breath and swallowed her saliva, hoping that the pain would ease away.

Before Wilfred could deliver his fatal blow on them, suddenly a blinding white light was glowing brilliantly in the sky, with a flash of a lightening, a thing flashed across the sky, its movements was swift and it was black, was it a bird or a plane? It was huge and black and it was too fast even for the vampires’ eyes to see what it was and the blinding bright light was making it harder for the vampires to keep their eyes open. Wilfred used his large wings to cower himself and hid his eyes behind it, shading it from the blinding bright light. He spread his wings and reached for the sky, aiming towards the shady tree and all of a sudden, he dropped down from the sky like a wounded bird with broken wings. An earth shaking and agonizing cry was let out by Wilfred as it diffuses into the air. His wings were badly injured by a sharp silver arrow that penetrates right to his shoulder blade. He tried to take flight again but he couldn’t. The arrow was not any ordinary arrow, it was coated with a seer’s spell and it causes the wound to incinerate and gradually his wings melted away while he yelled out in agony. Kelly landed onto the ground on all fours as she still needed more practice to perfect her flying and landing skills. The group was delighted to see Kelly and realization started to dawn on them that she was the huge black thing that flashes by the sky and took down Wilfred with her bow and arrow. Keith materialized beside her and they were all stalking towards a severely injured Wilfred and they were contemplating on how to slaughter him, just as they were about to deliver the final blow on him, he drifted out of consciences. Suddenly, the sky was filled with a hellish and maleficent shriek. The sun was hidden by several heavy and gloomy clouds. The sky has turned from bright sunlight to a pitch black sky, leaving no evidence of the sun ever being there. There was a sound of rumbustious thunder and lightning flashing pass the sky and then there was a large flock of black swirling around in the sky. Dylan, Ciara, Michael, Tiffany, Vonda, Keith, Kelly, Luke, Caleb and Jerediah were all perplex while they try to figure out what are those black things swirling around. The flock of things was heading towards the battle ground and then the group realized that it was a huge flock of ravens and bats that suddenly appeared out from nowhere. The ravens and bats started to gather together and formed a brobdingnagian replica of a woman, as the group brought their weapons closer to their hands and took a few steps forward they gasped in shock at the sight before them, it was a replica of Vivian, the legendary seer.

I am Vivian, I vow for revenge for Victor and myself. I am going to slain all of you today. I am exhilarated to see the shock clearly written on all of your faces, all this while all of you only thought that there was a kraken and you had Kelly to defeat the kraken but none of you has expected the least expected. I have returned from the grave to slain all of you; a sinister laughter filled the air.

Dylan, Ciara, Michael, Vonda, Keith, Kelly, Caleb, Luke and Jerediah looked on with horror. Luke and Jerediah charged at Vivian with their swords but were in vain as Vivian evokes her fire and released it onto them, incinerating them into ashes as Dylan, Keith and Caleb cried out no, but it was too late. Kelly flew up into the air, aimed her bow at Vivian’s head and shoots but instead Vivian cast her spell and the arrow instead was melted to the ground. Kelly couldn’t believe her eyes; she tried launching another arrow but was thrown down from the air onto the floor by Vivian’s compelling force. The impact was so great that Kelly hit the tree, uprooting it and causing it to fall on her. Keith wanted to scurry over to Kelly to save her from the falling tree but was kiboshed by Vivian’s power. Dylan unleashed his power of fire onto Vivian, instead of it hitting Vivian, it just diminished away. Vivian recites a spell, causing all of them to fall onto the ground and roll around, clenching their chest in pain. Vivian turned towards King Dylan, she released a force by lifting him up high into the air and dropping him down, the rest of them wanted to run over and grab Dylan before he hit the ground but were made immobile by Vivian. Dylan collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud and was kayoed by the blow. Vonda kept reciting a spell and the group managed to only stand up and moved a little. This time Vivian turned and glided towards Michael, pull out a dagger and stab Michael with it. Tiffany screamed at the sight of Michael falling onto the ground. Vonda sent a mind link informing Kelly who had just managed to get up from under the tree and was staggering over with a huge open wound on her leg that she is going to use all of her power within her to defeat Vivian but that would mean that she has to sacrifice herself. Kelly yelled no and hurriedly staggered over but was stopped by Janet who hissed at her and tried to stab her with her sword, Kelly had no choice but to draw her arrow and aim it at Janet’s shoulder as she didn’t want to kill her friend but merely wanted to injure her enough to kibosh a fight from breaking out. Janet placed her hands on her shoulder to suppress the oozing blood from flowing out from the wound. She took a sit under the old oak tree and drifted out of consciences. The group was also trying to stop Vonda but it was too late, Vonda chanted a spell and turned herself into a huge serpent and attack Vivian. Vonda swirl herself around Vivian, giving her a taut squeeze, hoping that the choky squeeze was able to squeeze the life out of Vivian. Vivian managed to loosen her hands out from the confinement and raise it up to the air and summon another flock of ravens and bats to attack Vonda by pecking on her long slimy body. Vivian unleashed her power of fire onto Vonda slicing her body into two and the huge serpent plunged down from a height of a two storey building down onto the ground. Kelly, Ciara, Keith and Tiffany scurried over to the broken body of the serpent, no matter how they shook her and yelled at her, Vonda just wouldn’t wake up again. Kelly’s eye lids were brimmed with tears that were soon going to erupt as she stood up and face her nemesis with extreme hatred as she aimed her bow and arrow at Vivian’s heart and shoot out her magical arrow with a spell cast on it; however it diminishes into dust before it could hit the behemoth. Kelly kept trying and trying to shoot her arrow at Vivian but none of them managed to even get close enough to her before they vanished into thin air. Vivian was laughing her hearts out at the foolishness of these people as they are powerless in front of her. Keith ran over to Kelly’s side and with his vampire speed tried to plunge his sword into Vivian’s leg but was unable to as it melted away. Vivian used her force against Kelly and Keith who flew backwards hitting the knights along with it, the door of the castle and dropping down on the ground unconscious.

This time, Ciara’s hatred and anger towards Vivian was beyond the boiling rage, she lunged at Vivian with her power of crystallization but instead Vivian’s fire consumed her power and forces her to cough up blood as the blow hit her internally.

Ciara wasn’t one who gives up easily , her vision searched for her husband, Dylan and then it went to Michael , Tiffany, Kelly, Vonda and Keith, she knew that she had to do something to slain Vivian as all her family and friends have either been killed or injured severely by her. She brought up her sword and with all of her might, she lunged it at Vivian who duck it effortlessly. Vivian cornered Ciara and she instantly knew that she is now face to face with death. There was no one around to help her and she was facing her brink of death alone. She shut her eye lids tight waiting for the impending danger to come.
