Second Chance - Chapter 41

Ciara mentally counted the seconds that she has waited but the blow never came, instead she heard a cacophonic bloodcurdling cry from Vivian, she opened her eyes and her vision was almost blinded by the bright white light glowing from her tummy. It was so bright that the entire sky has changed from darkness to sunny once again; the dark clouds have all dissipated. She also saw that the bright light has blinded the eyes of the bats and ravens causing them to cry out in agony and break out from their formation as they scatter away, causing Vivian to lose her physical form and with her last breath, her voice faded away and a no was faintly heard by Ciara. Ciara unleashed her power of crystallization on the flock of ravens and bats causing them to freeze then melt into a purple liquid and dribbled down from the sky, signifying the end of their life and the spell of their master.

Once Vivian's spell was broken, Janet woke up felling like she was trapped in a deep well for a very long time; she felt a sharp burning pain on her shoulder blade and turned to see that there was an arrow in it. Caleb ran over to her side and enveloped a sobbing Janet into his warm embrace.

Janet's peripheral vision screened through the entire battle scene where an overflowing ocean of blood and corpses of vampires, knights, wolves, seer, zombies and skeletons flooded and concealed the greenness of the grass. Realization hit her when she took notice of herself wearing the same black leather suit as Wilfred's. Remorse rained on her as she cried a river of tears at what she had done to her family. I am extremely sorry Caleb for what I have done to hurt you and our friends. I was powerless against Vivian and all this while, she has been using her power to control me and I was locked up in a well while my body was possessed by her spell. I know that I am not worthy of your forgiveness but I hope that you can offer it to me so that my mind can be at peace with myself. Caleb brushed away her long soft blonde hair as he brought his lips up to her eyes and kisses away her tears. I am really glad to have you back Janet, I will not brood over what you have done so long as you are back in my arms, we can start all over again, my darling. I am sorry honey, I would really love to have all eternity with you, but my time is up, Vivian has cast a death spell upon me, if anyone of you manages to slain her, my life will also be taken away together with hers. Before Caleb could open his mouth to speak, Janet caught sight of Wilfred waking up and stalking over to the comatose Dylan with a sword in his hand, she shouted Wilfred and with all her might, she plucks out the arrow from her shoulder blade and launches it at Wilfred. It hovered over the semi-conscious Kelly who dreamily opened her eyes and saw the arrow hovering above her head, soaking in her source of power and before she could lift up her hands to pick up the bow beside her. The arrow went straight to Wilfred's heart as he let out a clamorous hiss and lay motionless on the ground. An astonished Caleb turned and looked at his wife with tears in his eyes. Even at your weakest point, you would save our family, why would I not forgive you, my darling? I will not allow you to leave me, I will try to get Kelly to cast a spell to save you Janet, please do not leave me. From the bottom of my heart, I am begging you to stay with me; we will try to figure out something. Caleb, I just want to let you know that I am truly sorry and I love you with every fibre of my being, please be strong for my sake and promise me that you will not try to attempt suicide again once I am gone. I will be gone physically but my soul will always be watching over you and loving you for all eternity. Though I may have physically leave you but I will always continue to live on in your memories. Rivulets of tears were oozing out profusely and gliding down the cheeks of both Caleb and Janet as they leaned in to kiss each other with love and passion for the very last time. With her last breath, Janet muttered, I love you for all eternity as always and she lay limp in Caleb's arms. Caleb shouted no as he laid Janet's lifeless body down onto his lap and brought both his hands up to cover his face while he shook his head back and forth in disbelieve that he has lost his soul mate in this merciless massacre.
