Second Chance - Chapter 29

Both Michael and Tiffany will be going to the vampires’ council today to listen to the case of Victor’s treachery to them and the capital punishment that will be awaiting him.

After a long and tedious session, the elders decided to pass the ultimate judgment to Victor, which is starvation. He shall remain locked up in the dungeon with chains until he dies from starvation. This is a warning to all vampires that if anyone dares to create havoc and bring about the unnecessary deaths of so many innocent vampires and humans, a painful death shall be their final conclusion.

Ciara was radiating with joy today as her pale skin glows under the cascading light, she allowed the tailor to take her measurements and she spent a good two hours sitting down with the designer and Dylan to look through and sieved out her favourite wedding gown and Dylan’s wedding suit. 

Dylan decided to bring Ciara out to the vampire village for her to take a look at how similar the vampire village is compared to the human village.

They went out together with six knights and Gracey. Ciara find it amusing how the village is not any different from the humans and in fact, the vampires lead the same mundane lives as any humans, such as going to schools and working.  A shop selling many beautiful accessories captivated her and she went in to take a look at the exquisite jewellery hoping to find a few that could match her wedding gown.  A beautiful young woman in her twenties with long silky straight blonde hair came out from the corner and gasped, oh my God, am I dreaming both the Prince and Princess are in my shop. She slapped herself on the face to check if she was dreaming but she was indeed awake. Your highness, how may I help you? The jewelleries in your shop are unique and interesting; in fact I will be taking this set of necklace and earrings for my wedding, said Ciara.

I don’t believe it, the princess is buying jewelleries from my shop for her wedding. I am overjoyed with it. My name is Janet and I designed the jewelleries myself and my husband does all the workmanship. Your husband has very good workmanship and your designs are unique and lovely.

My husband is just inside the room fixing some jewellery, I am sure he will be honoured to meet the both of you, can I ask the both of you to take a seat, while I get him. Sure, replied Dylan.

Caleb, you will never believe it, our Prince and Princess are just outside of this room and they are getting a set of necklace and earrings for their wedding. Janet, that’s great news, business would be better from now on once news spread like wildfire that the Prince and Princess bought their wedding jewellery from us. I am coming with you to see them.

The moment Caleb laid eyes on Ciara, he gasped and shock was clearly written all over his face. When Ciara turn around and saw Caleb, she gasped and her mouth went ajar, with the same expression of shock worn on her face. Both Dylan and Janet look at each other and back at their spouse, but they couldn’t figure out what just happened. Caleb is that you, cried Ciara? Caleb was too stunned to talk or move.  Tears started to well up in Ciara’s eyes, Caleb answer me. Without breaking the silence, Caleb scurried over to Ciara and embraced her into a big hug. Dylan felt a little uncomfortable with his gesture and tried to pry him away from Ciara and the knights instantly took their positions but Ciara dismissed all of them with a wave of her right hand. Caleb finally spoke, Ciara, my sister is a princess, the bride of our vampire prince.  Caleb what happened to you after mum and dad died, I know that you went through a series of depression and went insane and finally you took off and went missing. Why did you leave me and go? Caleb felt guilty and embarrassed to look at his sister, I wasn’t thinking rationally, every time I look at you, you reminded me of mum and I didn’t know what to do. I ran away wanting to commit suicide and end my miserable life once and for all. But life showed me another path by sending Janet into my life. She saved me. I remembered jumping down from a cliff, and I know very well that I couldn’t have survived that fall but briefly before my eyes shut, I saw a very beautiful lady, he pointed to Janet and I knocked off.

Yes, Ciara, I remember that night. I was returning home from work and I heard an anguish cry and I felt the deep sorrow of that person and next I heard a loud thud from the mountains just behind my house. I ran over to see a badly injured Caleb lying on the floor with blood oozing out from his mouth. The moment I laid eyes on him, I knew that he was my soul mate.  I also noticed a letter in his hand. I saw the word sorry Ciara on it.  I decided to change him and tell him later about our world and ask him who Ciara was.

However, we do not know that the Ciara that we know is actually the bride of our Prince.

Why didn’t you come and look for me after you were changed, snorted Ciara? I did try to but I can’t as your house has been protected by a powerful spell that keeps all vampires away except the royals and also I was too ashamed to see you and I do not know how to explain to you what I am now.  Well but at least I do not need to explain about vampires now that I see that you are one too yourself and a princess.

Tears were pouring profusely down her face while the both of them were catching up on all the years that they were apart.

Dylan was relieved to know that this man who had just hugged his precious Ciara is actually her brother and not some infatuated admirer. He invited both Caleb and Janet to the castle for dinner.

Ciara was delighted to see that her brother is well, married and is happy with his life.  Ciara and Janet got on very well, and they started planning for the wedding together with Kelly. While the girls were busy spending the rest of the night together planning all the nitty-gritty stuffs for the wedding, Dylan, Keith and Caleb were having a wonderful time playing cards and chilling out in the lounge of the castle.
