When I was accepted in to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I had no idea what was ahead of me. Coming from an almost all magic family, my grandparents and dad went to Hogwarts and were all Slytherins.

I thought I was just average. I went to a muggle school and had muggle friends, and got pretty good grades. I always was considered as "average."

Until, July 24th came along when my Hogwarts letter came, I still remember the day. A day of confusion and excitement. I was no longer considered average by anyone.

"Post's here." Dad shouted, not looking up from his newspaper as letters dropped from the letter slot and on to the wooden floor, "Will you go get it, Victoria?"

"Yes dad. I'm going now," I walk to the front door, where the letters lied, stilly . Without looking through the letters, I picked them up and placed them on the kitchen table and sat back down.

"What came?" Dad sips his coffee from his special green mug and placed it back down on the table.

I picked up the letters and looked through them one by one, "Water bill....letter from Aunt Mary....Electronic bill...." I stop and stare at the last letter. The envelope was a yellowish tint with a burgundy wax stamp to seal it tight. I turn it around to see that my name was written on the back with ink.

Victoria Larson

91 Walter Ave.

Room with mahogany wood floors

Woodstock

My mouth was wide open, I closed it immediately. I couldn't believe it. How did they know my room had mahogany wood floors?

"And..." Dad put his newspaper down on the table and looked at me," What's that letter you're holding in your hands"

I looked up at him with and open mouth and back down at the letter, "I-I don't know. It's for me." I handed him the letter.

He slips on his glasses and takes a look at it, " Let's see....Victoria...Walter Avenue....Mahogany-" he stops and looks back up to me, "Hogwarts."

"Hog what?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"It's a school. How about you open it and find out more." He handed me the letter and I started to open it.

Dear Mrs. Larson,

We are happy to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find list of supplies. We will await your owl by August 31st. Term begins Sept. 1st.

sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

"You're going to Hogwarts, Victoria,"Dad stands up and walks over towards me.

"I- I don't understand." I blurt out. I had a loss of words. What is Hogwarts? Who is this Minerva McGonagall? Why is she telling me that I am accepted into this Hogwarts school?

"You have been accepted into Hogwarts." Dad mumbles from behind me, "It's a school for magic people. I went there, I think it's about time that I tell you."

"I- I'm confused. What is Hogwarts."

"It's a school." He replies while sitting back down in his chair.

"Y-You know about Hogwarts?" I asked, he nodded his head slowly, "Have you been there before?"

"Yes. Your grandparents went to Hogwarts back in their days. Then I went and now you. We we're all Slytherins; your grandparents and I."

"What's Slytherin?" I raised an eyebrow at what he said.

"One of the houses at Hogwarts." Dad looked into his coffee cup for a moment, swishing the coffee around before looking back up at me, "There are four houses; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. The house is like your family. That's what grandma told me as a kid when I got my first letter."

"So...What makes me so special about attending Hogwarts." I asked in confusion.

"You're a witch, just like your grandparents and me. Well, your grandma was a witch, your grandfather and I are wizards. Oh how they loved it there. I loved it there too." Dad puts a hand on his heart in delight, "You're not a muggle."

"A what?" I tuck my long dark hair behind my ear.

"A muggle, it's non magic people. Your mother never went to Hogwarts, making her a muggle."

"Dad. What if I'm not a good wizard? What if I get expelled the second I'm there?" I had so many questions.

"Victoria Larson," He calls me from my full name, my cheeks turn a shade of light pink, "You are one of the most smartest 10 almost 11 year old I've seen. I doubt that you will get expelled. Plus you're just getting started. I have faith in you. You'll do just fine at Hogwarts."

I give him a small smile. His words made me feel better. It's good to think that he believed in me, "Thanks dad."

"We're going to London next week Wednesday to get your supplies."

...

I wasn't allowed to tell my friends that I was a wizard. If I did they would probably spread the word around school and no one would consider me as "an average human being." I just told them that I was transferring to a new school in London. They seemed to believe me when invited them over for lemonade.

I didn't tell them about how I was going to Hogwarts. When they asked what school I would be transferring to, I just made up a random name. I also told them that it was a sleepaway school, because I would be at Hogwarts, I wouldn't be home most of the time. Just holidays and that's it.

Of course it would be sad to leave my dad for Hogwarts. Of course I want to go to Hogwarts and learn all about potions and wizardry, but leaving behind dad and all of my friends would be tough.

It's my home
