Epilogue

"Say please, Kuya muna," Kean told me as he slumped his body on the couch. I rolled my eyes irritatingly as I threw a pillow on his face. Tumawa ito at niyakap ang unan. "Ayaw mo? It's all fine with me."

"Oh, Christ! It's not like you're that old!"

"Yeah, right. Just because you look older than me doesn't mean you won't address me as your Kuya anymore. It's not a crime if you call me Kuya, though."

"Gago, ang kapal ng mukha!"

He laughed out loud. "Gago ka rin!"

I raised my middle finger as I stop myself from laughing.

"Please, Kuya? Here's the picture of us," I told him and gave the photo of me and Maeve, and the sunset as our background.

I asked Kean a favor to paint us. I know how to paint but not as good as Kean when it comes to portrait.

He held the picture and shot an eyebrow. He even played his lower lip with his fingers while looking at it. "Your girl looks like an angel," he said.

"You already have your own Angel!" I shouted, annoyed.

"You don't have to remind me because I know that already. Having her feels like winning a lottery."

I snorted. "Corny mo naman," tawa ko.

"Treasures aren't always chest full of gold. Sometimes, it's Angel Gonzales," he winked at me and I convulsed with laughter. "So stop thinking bullshit, Vance. I was just complimenting your girl."

"Sorry naman. But well, I've never thought you'd be like this."

He shrugged and looked at the picture again. "I think may kulang?" sabi niya.

"Huh? What is it?"

"She really has an angelic face. Kulang sa 'yo sungay," malakas na tawa niya. Nagbato muli ako ng unan na agad naman niyang nasalo.

I'm happy when I'm with Maeve. She always brings the best in me. I've never thought that a person aside from my family, can mean so much to me. I always thank God that I met her and Kiel.

"Vance, your Mom isn't in good condition anymore," my father said the moment I went inside his office. I just came from school and immediately drove here after his phone call.

I gulped multiple times as I raked my fingers through my hair.

My biological mother is sick. That's also the reason why I always spend my vacation abroad. I wanted to take care of her.

He sighed and leaned his back on his swivel chair. Until now, I really hate his actions toward other girls back then.

"Do you want me to book a flight—" I cut him off.

"Of course, Papa. My Mom has literally no one but me," I answered.

He sighed once more before avoiding my stares.

To: Maeve

I can't fetch you.

I massaged the bridge of my nose after sending that message. She smiled sweetly at me which I didn't give back. I just walked towards her wearing a blank expression.
