Josiah. | a few weeks later..What will he do?
Is leaving the best idea?
Time is ticking for Josiah Jones as the deadline to declare for the draft is approaching quickly.
NBA scouts are thinking of looking elsewhere as Josiahs decision look unclear.
These were all the questions and headlines floating around Josiah now that his freshman college basketball season had ended, and the draft was right around the corner. He had less than a week to make a decision.
Leave college and declare for the draft.
Or
Stay another year.
The truth was he still had no idea what he wanted to do because he wanted to do both. His dream was always to play basketball on a professional level, but now his priorities have slightly changed as weeks have passed since Ray died and Ayden has been struggling with his mental health. Josiah has been his biggest support.
The only thing that would keep him from the NBA, would be to be his brothers keeper.
Either way, his heart was torn. However he was thankful because no one he loved was pressuring him to do anything. They gave him room to think about this for himself.
Hearing his name, he turned to look at Ayden sitting up on his bed across from him.
"Wassup?"
"What's on your mind?" Ayden asked as he looked over at his brother laying down.
"Honestly what isn't," Josiah sighed. "But I'm fine. You good? You take your medicine?" He asked, referring to his antidepressants.
Ayden nodded and chuckled softly. "Yes dad." He answered sarcastically.
"Ahh shut up you know you don't like taking them, so I'm just making sure." Josiah yawned before sitting up and facing Ayden. "You seem to be in a better mood today, I'm happy to see that since yesterday was really hard."
Ayden nodded slowly. "Yeah sorry about that. I know I have my bad days, but I promise I'm working on it."
"Hey you don't ever have to apologize to me, especially when it comes to your mental health Ayden. We're a team bro. Good and bad. I rather you be here with me, having those hard moments, than out there making bad decisions." Josiah told him and Ayden crossed his arms.
"It never gets easier ya know? That's the only part that sucks."
Josiah reached over and placed his phone on the charger. "I know bro, but if anyone can get through this it's you. It just takes time and I'll be here to help you."
Ayden shook his head. "Josiah no, it's time for you to be selfish and stop worrying about me. I know the only reason you haven't declared for the draft yet is because of me. I won't let you lose out on this opportunity because of me, no matter what I'm going through."
