"Do you think MJ would be up for that 1 on 1 for the media attention it could bring us both?" Lavar asked Lamelo as stood beside him. Avery stood between Lavar and Zo. Gelo, Tina, his grandmother, and Carla was to Melos right. D Mo went with Jermaine to help him handle business.
Zo snorted loudly.
"Pops he's Michael Jordan. Why would he need any more media attention than he already has?" Melo questioned, making a face at his dad.
"Because I'm Lavar Ball. I have way more media attention then he does. We could even make it an event for the Hornet fans, sell tickets. Boost morale around here."
Everyone began trying to stifle their laughs.
"That was such a Lavar Ball thing to say." Avery snickered and Lavar turned and looked down at her.
"Don't hate the player, hate the game."
"Wow." Melo mumbled, playfully rolling his eyes. The teams media intern walked over and interrupted, letting Melo know it was almost time to speak. He had already signed his contract earlier that day with Jermaine.
Melo nodded and walked in front of everyone, turning around and smiling. "I appreciate all of you for being here with me today, it's great when all of my favorite people are in one room to support me."
"Awww stop with that soft shit and go do your thang." Gelo smirked at Melo, crossing his arms.
"Right." Zo agreed. "Soft ass."
"Alright leave my favorite son alone." Lavar joked and everyone laughed.
Melo chuckled and shook his head, meeting eyes with Carla. She blew him a kiss and he caught it making her giggle. His eyes then moved on down the line, meeting with Avery's. She stared at him with blank face at first, but eventually a smile formed on her face. She mouthed, I'm proud of you, and he returned the smile mouthing, thank you.
The intern came back and took him away, before coming back and leading everyone to the seating area in front of the stage. Avery took her seat next to Zo, but also ended up next to Carla.
"You know only pops would actually believe he could beat MJ 1 on 1." Zo whispered to Avery and she covered her mouth to hide her laugh.
She bumped Zo's shoulder and he chuckled, shaking his head. He turned and began engaging in a conversation with his dad about how crazy he was.
