Winter avoided Cairo's eyes as she took a sip of her water. She had been able to a avoid the inevitable conversation from the second it happened, but she could tell he was only going to let it slide for so long.

Well at least until now.

"So are you going to tell me what that was about?" Cairo asked as he cleared his throat and leaned back crossing his arms.

Her eyes darted to his quickly before returning back to the window.

"I told you there's nothing to say, I didn't mean to. My emotions were all over the place."

He clearly didn't believe her as he cut his eyes. "Your emotions are always all over the place snow. You've never kissed me before, especially while we're both in relationships."

Winter felt her whole world crash down as her head flooded with images of her boyfriend Jayden.

"Fuck." She whimpered, letting her head drop into her hands. "I- have no words. I'm just sorry."

Cairo held back his laugh as he watched her struggle. "Don't worry I think we're both capable of keeping this between us. Jay doesn't need to know and Keira definitely doesn't need to know." He reassured her, referring to his girlfriend Keira.

"No Cairo-" Winter began saying as she lifted her head. "I'm seriously sorry. I don't know what happened or why I kissed you. It was like my body was just moving without me controlling it." She tried to explain the best way she could.

He raised his eyebrow. "So you're saying it was just a reflex?"

She nodded her head quickly, happy he understood. "Yup. Nothing more, nothing less. It was a in the moment thing." She smiled at him, grabbing her own hand and placing it into her shaking lap.

Cairo watched her body movements knowing there was more to the story because she was nervous. He decided to let it go because he had bigger fish to fry at the moment, and who knows what type of stress that could unleash into his life.

Winter couldn't possibly have feelings for him. She would've told him if she did? Right?

He already had a girlfriend and Winter was just his best friend. Any type of mixing of the two equals a confused Cairo and that's drama no man wants to have.

"Alright." He smiled back, noticing his smile relaxed her. His eyes fell to her plate, pleased to see it was empty. He knew she probably forced herself to eat for him but he didn't care. Every human needed 2000 calories a day, and she barely touched 700.

Not on his watch. Not again.

"Why are you staring at me like I just did something wrong?" Winter asked, confusion written all over her face.

Cairo hadn't even realized he started mugging her. He fixed his face and started laughing, shaking his head no.

"Sorry it's a habit. I was in my own head and sometimes don't realize my face pretty much exposes me."

"Mhm so-" Winter began to speak to ask him a question she was dying to ask, but his phone ringing interrupted her.

Both their eyes darted to his iPhone 11 seeing the name Keiraa😈❤️ on the screen. His eyes lit up while hers did the complete opposite- without even realizing it.
