Boundless love

The first thing Ava felt was the warmth hand. She moved her fingers just a little when she realized that her hand was being held.

"Avey, I'm here" then Connor's voice sounded so familiar and dear. It seemed to her that she had been unconscious for ages, because with great difficulty she was able to open her eyes. As soon as she saw the face she loved, she broke into a relieved smile as she found herself in the arms of her husband. How much she needed it. Snatches of recent events flashed through her mind, and then, out of habit, she pressed her hand to her stomach, finally coming to her senses when she remembered that she had already given birth.

"Connor, what's wrong with Avery?" Ava said hoarsely because her throat was dry. She looked at Connor, afraid of the worst.

"Honey, she's fine, don't worry" Connor assured her immediately, kissing her on the forehead, running a gentle hand through her hair, not taking his eyes off her. "Avery is completely healthy, and you should get stronger"

"I want to see her" Ava said timidly, trying to sit up on the bed, but was immediately stopped by Connor.

"Ava, you can't move yet, your stitches might come apart" Connor shook his head, adding that what had happened to her was that she would have to stay in the hospital for a few days and then follow an impressive list of restrictions for the first couple of weeks.

"I did something wrong during the birth" Ava did not ask, but bitterly stated, closing her eyes.

"No, honey, it could have happened to anyone, even a doctor like you. Don't forget, you gave birth earlier, and in the car" Connor chuckled weakly, not wanting to remember how inwardly he had panicked, helping her give birth, remaining a confident and calm man for her.

"In the car, exactly" Ava couldn't help but laugh, as if she wasn't making plans for a place like this for their baby's birth.

"I'll go and ask for our girl" Connor smiled, giving Ava a light kiss on the cheek, immediately seeing the happy anticipation in Her eyes. Of course, she hadn't really met their baby, and that had to be corrected.

"Thank you, Connor" nodding, Ava remained obediently lying down, feeling, in addition to happiness, a slight excitement. She didn't remember very well how Avery had been born, more in a hazy limbo, but she did remember her first cry, how Avery had started to cry. There were tears in her eyes as Ava seemed to relive the memory.

Quickly wiping away her tears as the door opened, Ava looked up with a sinking heart as Connor entered, holding their baby in his arms. She couldn't help but sob "Avery."

Connor walked over to Ava and very carefully placed their baby in her arms. And she stopped breathing, looking at such a tiny happiness. Avery smacked her lips sweetly, wrinkling her nose in a funny way.

"Hello, daughter" Ava whispered, holding her gently, lovingly, and touching Her forehead with her lips. Avery seemed to freeze as her eyes met hers.

"Connor, she definitely has your eyes" Ava breathed happily, admiring the beautiful little girl, who was incredibly calm, doing nothing but flutter her big eyes and smack her lips.

"Will you help me feed her? My chest aches so much" Ava breathed, previously oblivious to the pain due to the fresh stitches on her crotch.

Connor picked Avery up and put her in the special baby unit that had been set up in the ward. Lifting the pillow, he helped Ava into a position that was neither "sitting" nor "lying down," but it was better that way.

"I feel so helpless" Ava complained, biting her quivering lip when she couldn't even bare her breasts, her fingers tangled in her hospital pajamas.

"Avey, that's what I'm here for" Connor himself untied part of the pyjamas, helping to pull them off one shoulder, and gently kissed his beloved on the neck, smiling: "That's it, now you can feed Avery"

Nodding gratefully, afraid to say anything to stop herself from sobbing, Ava took a deep breath, then let it out. She was still too emotional about what was happening.

When Connor put the baby back in Ava's arms, she began to breastfeed, immediately smiling broadly when she felt just one with Her. Connor watched in fascination, finally realizing that ava had become a mother, and She would definitely be the best for their daughter.

As soon as Ava finished feeding the baby, Connor took her in his arms, being so sensitive that he knew when his beloved was tired.

"I love you, Avery" Ava whispered, leaving another soft kiss on her forehead.

"I'll send her back to the children's unit and they'll take care of her" Connor explained as he carried Avery out of the room, calling the doctor to check on Ava on the way.

Dr. Adkins carefully examined Ava and ordered Her to replace the IV with a new one with additional restorative elements and a vitamin. She also said that a nurse would come later in the evening to treat the stitches and change the dressing.

"You need to sleep, honey" Connor said as her doctor left. He kissed her wrist as he sat next to her, not hiding his concern.

"Just wake me up when I need to feed Avery" Ava said, squeezing his hand weakly herself.

"Of course, Avey" how he loved this caring angel who always thought of everyone more than himself.

"I have enough space for you to lie down next to me" she stammered uncertainly, feeling like she was having a hard time speaking because she was so sleepy.

Connor smiled and took off his shoes, snuggling next to Ava, one arm around her so that she rested her head on his chest, instantly relaxing with the light contact.

"That's better" she smiled, closing her eyes.

"I love you madly, my angel" Connor breathed softly into the top of Ava's head, not even imagining that it was possible to be as happy as he was at that moment.

"You know I love you just as much and I can't imagine my life without you" Ava said softly, before falling asleep thanks to the harmless medication.

Soon she would recover, and they could go home, and now the three of them. In the meantime, they slept in each other's arms, even on the hospital bed, their hands entwined, feeling each other's warmth.
