December 30th (New Year's Eve)
10:14 pm"Oh wow." Robyn mumbled to herself, watching Maurice descend down the stairs with a brown hat in his right hand while he held his phone in his left. Good was an understatement for how he looked, if Robyn could, she would literally pounce on him.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Maurice winked, sending her a cocky smirk. Robyn looked down, her cheeks heating up with a blush. She had no idea where he was going or what his plan was, but whatever it was was clearly planned excessively and thought out. Maurice hated suit's with a passion, they just weren't him and he made that clear countless amounts of times. His go to was sweat pants and a sweatshirt, the goal was to be comfortable...not presentable. He could walk out with toilet paper wrapped around him and still have people worship his every step, suits weren't a necessity.
Robyn stood, walking up to him as he stood planted in the middle of the living room. Reaching up, she wrapped her arms around his neck tightly. This was basically the first time in 5 that she's had to see him before he went out to go do something that could possibly get him killed in the end. No matter how old they got, no matter how much power Maurice had gained, that feeling of anxiety Robyn always got would never leave her.
"Please, please be careful." She whispered in his ear with her eyes shut. Maurice laid his hand on the small of her back, one resting there while the other held the right side of her hip.
"You know imma be good." He mumbled, leaning up so that they were face to face. Robyn knew Maurice was smart, one of the smartest people she knew in the world. But that didn't change the fact there was always room for things to go wrong. Only difference was, if things go wrong now, there wouldn't be a chance for a tomorrow.
"Do you promise?" Maurice took a deep sigh, looking away from her innocent green eyes. Her eyes held hope and worry.
"You know I don't make promises I can't keep. But if shit happens, just know I fought to get home to you okay?" Robyn felt her eyes begin to water, but she couldn't and wouldn't cry because there was nothing she could do about it. This was the life he chose to live, no matter how much she tried to get him to turn away and leave it behind, he was so deeply invested.
"Okay." Robyn spoke, dropping her head down. It was hard for her to look in his eyes knowing that this could possibly be the last time. Maurice took his index finger, placing it under her chin to raise her head up.
"Don't worry about me." He spoke sternly, forcing her to reluctantly nod. He could say that to her a million times, but there wasn't any stopping her head from running wild.
Maurice leaned down, brushing his lips against hers until she gave in, giving him a slow kiss. She didn't want to pull away, but she knew she had to.
