"What the hell." Robyn mumbled, listening as Maurice's phone sent her to voicemail for the 10th time. She knew he had business and stuff to do, and sometimes he needed to do things spontaneously. But he always called whenever he wasn't coming home right away or at the time he said he would.
She didn't like being all down his back and she wasn't that type of female, but her anxiety always forced her to think the worse. Not answering the phone for her was very unlikely with him, he always found a way or stepped away from whatever he was doing. Even if he only had 3 minutes.
"Baby I'm getting worried, just call me if-." She pulled the phone from her ear once she got cut off from an incoming call. She was hoping it was Maurice, but raised an eyebrow when she seen an unfamiliar number. She didn't usually answer them, but for all she knew it could have been him.
"Hello?!"
"You have a collect call from...Maurice Brown. Do you wish to except the charges? If so, press 1." Robyn's heart dropped, there was no way he was suddenly back in jail. Especially because she just seen him less than 24 hours ago. But she complied, pressing the number without thinking twice.
"Robyn-."
"Maurice what the fuck are you doing in jail?!" Robyn screamed once she heard the little click, pissed was an understatement. She didn't know what was going on, but she couldn't deal with this right now.
"Listen baby calm down, go in my room and go in my closet. There's gon be a black bag in the far right corner, grab that and count out $60,000. The stacks of money is in 10,000's." Robyn said nothing as she rushed upstairs to follow his instructions.
"Maurice I don't see a damn black bag. What the hell are you even-."
"I'll explain when you get me, check the other side." Robyn shifted to the other side of the closet, ignoring the warning that they had 1 minute remaining. Bending down, she grabbed the bag and put it over her shoulder.
"I'm on my way, just- just stay there." Maurice made a face at her words, he had no choice but to stay there. But he knew better than to try and get smart, would've messed around and been left there all night.
Once the two hung up, she jogged downstairs to grab a bottle of water and a random set of keys. She tried her best not to stress herself out, knowing it wouldn't be good for the baby. So deep breaths it was, but that wasn't really working either.
The whole car ride she thought negatively. She was grateful he was getting out on bail, but that would only be until they figure out his court date and all that. Everything was happening so fast at once and it was starting to get overwhelming.
"Go dammit." She mumbled, cutting off the car in front of her. She wasn't in a rush because she was scared for Maurice because she knew he still held high status even in jail. She was in a rush because she was anxious to figure out what happened.
She cringed pulling up to the jail, seeing all of the security and wires all around did not sit right with her. She also didn't like the fact Maurice was inside of the rundown, beat up building that she was staring at.
