Lumi's P.O.V.

After lunch was over I had English. Of course Nate sat next to me. He even kept his promise of letting me look into his book.

As school was over and I had almost reached home someone called my name.

"Lumi. Damnit don't walk that fast." Nate stood in front of me. "What do you want?"

I asked him out of curiousity.

"Eh...I wanted to apologize for taking your lunch." He mumbled, looking everywhere except my face.

"It's fine. We had a deal." I told him and turned around to go inside the house.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes. Were you worried?" I smiled at him and turned my head to the side.

His pupils enlarged slightly.

"No." He replied in a sharp tone. "See you tomorrow."

And there the kind atmosphere goes.

I shook my head as I stared after Nate. What a complicated person.

To my surprise that crazy boy stood in front of my yard the next morning!

He held his umbrella above his head and stared me in the eye.

"I see, you have your bag today."

Was all he said before he walked into the opposite direction of school.

"Where are you going?!" I called after him and ran down the stairs. As always I forgot my umbrella.

"Won't you be in school again today?" I asked Nat now walking right by his side.

"No." He replied and held his umbrella above my head too now.

"Do you plan on following me?" The guy stopped and looked directly into my eyes with a harsh facial expression.

"Why aren't you coming?"

"That is none of your business." He answered and continued to walk.

The longer I followed him the faster he got.

"Stop following me! You have to go to school, I have my reasons not to!" His pacience was clearly running thin.

"Then why were you at my doorstep this morning?" He groaned and put a hand on his forehead. Did he get a headache?

"Because. Now go to school Lumi." I stood still, not saying a word and just looked at him.

"You're a pain in the a*s."

"I won't take you to the place I'm going."

He groaned.

"Fine, come along."

I had managed to cut his nerves through, upsi.

The rest of the way to wherever he had to go, none of us said a word. I was surprised as we stopped at a diner.

"Do you miss school to eat food?" I asked him. The look I got from him had me shut up immediately.

"Don't you dare tell anyone in there I am still in high school." Oh, that sounded serious.

I nodded and he opened the door.

An older man, about 70 years old came rushing out of the kitchen immediately after he heard the bell above the door ring.

"Nathaniel!" He said with an italian accent. "And who is that? What a beautiful young lady! Elisabetta, Nathaniel brought a female guest!" Before Nate or 'Nathaniel' which seemed to be his real name could say anything, an old lady came out of the kitchen and started pinching my cheeks.

"You have good taste Nathaniel. She is a keeper." She smiled warmly at me. "What is your name dear?"

Overwhelmed I looked from her to Nate. He just shrugged and looked equally helpess.

"I'm Lumi." Searching for comfort from the strange situation I stepped closer to Nat and away from the two.

He didn't even seem to notice, his whole body was just frozen in place from the passionate welcome.

"Na, na, come with me Lumi." The woman smiled warmly and took me by the hand as if I was a kid that had to be guided.

"Do you want something to eat?" As I shook my head she sighed. "Of course you will eat. I'm gonna get you some good old waffles. Just sit here and wait. Your boyfriend should be out to take care of the other guests soon. He looks really good in his waiters uniform."

Boyfriend?!

What exactly...how?

Huh?

She winked at me and I asked myself what I had gotten into now...
