In the morning I woke up with a heavy weight on my stomach. I looked next to me, saw that Nate's head was on my stomach and he was cradling my waist. Smiling I stroked his head and brushed through his hair.

He looked like a baby, sleeping like that. How adorable!

I would have squealed but didn't want to wake him up.

So I looked at my phone.

Wait.

Oh goodness! It was this late already?

"Nate!" I shook his shoulder.

"Nate, wake up! We are going to be too late to school!" He opened his eyes and looked at me sleepily. "So?" He asked yawning.

I couldn't believe it.

"Come on we have to go." As I tried wiggling out of his arms he just held me tighter.

"Baby, it's Saturday."

It is?

Oh.

I blushed and looked at him in embarrassment. "Sorry." My high pitched voice just had him nodding.

Then he was off to dream land again and I tried to fall asleep too.

Obviously it didn't work. So I looked through social media and ended up watching several YouTube videos.

"Are you volunteering at the hospital again today?" I nodded and looked up at him. Nate was making omelette for breakfast and forbid me to help him in any way.

"Yes, are you going to visit your sister?"

"Of course I am." He smiled and placed the delicious meal in front of me. "I promised her to bring you with me as I visited her on Thursday.

Gladly she has a roommate now so she doesn't feel alone anymore. An her health got better too! The treatment is finally working." He slumped down his chair and started eating.

"So the cancer has stopped growing?" I asked hopeful and he nodded. "That's great to hear." I smiled and took his hand in mine.

Nate drove us to the hospital. We went into Mariella's room where she was playing with another, slightly younger girl.

"Lumi!" Completely ignoring her brother she ran over and hugged me. "Hey sweetie. How are you doing today?"

"I'm great."

Then she went to Nate and stretched her arms out. He took her up and let her sit on his waist. "That is great to hear Ella."

She grinned at him and demanded to be placed onto the ground again.

It felt like Mariella was a whole new person.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I thanked the lords for letting her be the little girl again she was supposed to be.

I spend half an hour in her room with Nate, then I went to the other rooms where the children were already waiting for me.

Some of them were able to go home, and there were new ones. Some had died and it made me sad to see a missing face. I always hoped they were healthy enough to be home now.

After three hours I was done and went back to Mariella's room, where Nate was telling the girls a story of his own.

Mariella was in her bed, almost sleeping again and tiredly waved at me, I waved back with a smile.

Nate looked up at me and quickly finished the tale.

After he was done he looked at his sleeping sister. She looked happy, with a little smile on her face.

"The doctors say that I can take her home with me in two weeks if everything goes to plan." He whispered into my ear and hugged me. I felt his weight on me. He must be really worn out.

"That sounds great." I whispered back and stroked over the back of his head.

"Mhh." He just replied and lazily kissed my neck.

"Let's go home and hope it works out." Taking his hand in mine I opened the door and we went out.
