"So your aunt practically just told me you paid for the whole operation yourself?" I looked at her in shock as she nodded her head.

"Did you go into debt because of me?" My eyes were ready go cry again. How could she do that? It would take years for her to pay it back.

No question, I will be thankful forever!
Still I worried for her.

"I didn't get into debt Nate, just don't worry about it." She laid her hand on top of mine.

"It seems to be time to tell you, as we are sad anyways." She smiled and I didn't understand a thing.

Tell me what?

"The money that I paid with for the operation isn't mine. Well, it wasn't until I moved here." Confused I looked into her eyes. She looked really down.

"I inherited it from my parents as they died five months ago." Her voice broke and tears welled up in my girl's eyes.

I took her other hand into mine and stroked over it with my thumb.

She hiccuped and continued talking, her voice cracking every now and then.

"They died in a car accident on their way to ... my school. A truck lost control and drove into my parents car. They were instantly dead and I was alone." Her lips were pressed together and I could see that she was about to cry.

"It is okay to cry." I whispered and pulled her close.

So that was the real reason she lived with her aunt.

I rocked us from side to side and let her cry as long as she needed to.

Every now and then I kissed the side of her face and just showed affection.

It worked.

"You are the first person that I told what happened." She whispered and then told me how her "friends" had pushed her away as they found out what happened to her parents. Who acts that way?!

I got angry at them but couldn't do anything about it.
