"Hey!" Startled he turned around and stared at me. After realizing that I was no threat he relaxed.
"Don't sneak up to me from behind." His deep voice critizised."I'm sorry, it won't happen again." I grinned. "I've been wondering what your name is so I came over." Surprised he lifted his eybrows. "Why would I have to tell you?"
Eh... my mind went blank.
"I can't just call you 'umbrella guy' for the rest of the year." To me that was a valid reason.
He sighed and looked into my eyes. His grey eyes in contrast to his black hair were daunting but so mesmerizing at the same time. He squirmed under my glance. "Will you stop looking at me like that if I tell you my name?" I nodded.
Mumbling some curse words under his breath he turned away from me.
"Call me Nate." He said and was out of my sight as quick as he came.Puzzled I stood there. Something with him was not okay.
Nate was nervous, tired, indifferent and every time I saw him there was something really sad in the way he looked at me.
Should I keep investigating? Maybe he needed a person to feel comfortable with. The others at school were clearly scared of Nate for whatever reason, so I guess he is lonely like I am?
With a little smile I continued shopping. With some luck I'd soon have my first friend here.
The weekend went by and Monday came around.
As my alarm rang I stood up annoyed and got ready. Why does school have to start so early in the morning?
I rolled my eyes and went downstairs to make breakfast and lunch.
Should I cook something for Miss Miller too? I'm sure she would like it. That woman forgets to bring her lunch almost everyday.Creative people...
Chuckling to myself I made two more blueberry pancakes and put them in a different box than mine.
"Oh crap! I'm going to be late!" My eyes darted to the clock. I had only fifteen minutes left.
In a hurry I left the house and started running.
Why, why, why?!
Argh, stupid Lumi! Why would you forget to bring your bag to school but not your lunch?!
I sighed and slid down my chair in shame. In the hurry I had forgotten to pick up my backpack.
It still stood right next to the front door.
I looked next to me. He was here today and already staring me down.
How come I couldn't stare at him but the other way around it was fine? The controversy.
"Um...Nate?" I smiled at him as cute as I could. "Would you mind sharing you book with me?"
"Yes I would." My smile instantly fell.
Are you serious dude?
"Stop smiling like a creep and stop looking like you want to kill me." How come he was so incredibly rude all of a sudden?
"Please!" I started whispering as the teacher came in. "I forgot my bag at home and have nothing with me today."
He pointed at my lunch bag.
"What is in there then?" Nate slightly turned his head to the side like a puppy which made my blood boil.
"It's my lunch." He nodded and an evil grin appeared on his face.
"I will let you look into my books today if you pay me with food."
Annoyed I nodded. Maybe I should overthink wanting to be friends with him once again."Deal sealed." Thankfully Nate moved over then, so we could look into the book together.
I could even smell his cologne.
Boy that was something to die for! What shampoo did he use?The rest of the day I wasn't able to concentrate because of his intoxicating scent.
