The two weeks went by really fast. Nothing really interesting happened. Nate had enrolled his little sister into primary school again and she had already found many new friends with her charm.

Every third day he would bring her to the hospital in the afternoon, rush to work and pick her up again in the evening.

His life was very busy so I tried to not waste too much of his precious time.

It was Thursday and Mariella had to stay in the hospital until tomorrow in the evening so Nate had asked me if we could meet up.

I had happily replied: "Yes, sure! I also have to show you something."

Now I sat on a bench in the park we wanted to meet up in.

I was early so it wasn't something unusual that he didn't show up yet.

What would Nate's reaction be when he saw the house I bought for us?

Would he happy when I asked if he and Mariella wanted to move in with me?

Nervously I stared on my phone. It was five minutes past three.

Maybe traffic was harsh today?

Fifteen past three...

As I tried to call him only his voicemail turned on.

Had he shut his phone off?

At half past three I started to worry. What if something had happened?

Quarter to four.

Nate didn't reply to my messages nor my calls. Did he get into an accident? Oh god this never happened before.

Nervously I walked up and down the path, not caring about the people who looked at me like I was crazy.

Where.

Was.

He.

At four it started to rain and I went home to get my umbrella.

As I walked to his apartment he finally called back. But when his voice started to speak I let my phone fall into the mud in shock.
