"Don't you think it is very rude of you to mistreat me like that? I have the money so you should give me these papers now and operate my boyfriend's sister! Her life is on the line here!"

I hissed at the woman daring to start arguing with me how I couldn't pay for the operation because I wasn't part of the family. Who made that crap up?!

The patients around me started clapping for whatever reason, I was too angry to care.

She finally had me fill out a paper to register the payment. Then I got the papers for the operation and went upstairs again. Nate had to view over and set his signature to agree to the operation.

Eli sat next to the bed and looked at me in surprise as I opened the door. Then she smiled with a sad look in her eyes.

I smiled back and went over to Nate, who seemed to be in another universe.

"Babe, you have to give your signature. The doctor will be here any minute."
I kneeled down next to Nate and showed him all the papers he had to sign.

With big eyes he looked at me.

His shaking hands grabbed the paper and the pen and he signed each paper without even reading it first.

Luckily I had and it seemed to be fine.

Just as he was done with the last one the doctor came in. He shook Elisabetta's hand first, probably thinking she was Mariella's grandma or something.

Then he looked over to us and took the signed papers from Nate.

"Mister Coleman." He shook Nate's hand who was still just staring ahead.

"We will be ready in about thirty minutes. So you can talk to our little patient before she get's taken to the operation hall and ease her if she should be scared. There is an 80% chance of nothing happening. Worst case scenario is death."

We all nodded and the doctor went back out.

"So she won't die?" Nate looked like a little boy while he was looking up at me.
"No, she won't."

He caressed Mariella's little face, his hands still shaking and kissed her forehead while she was still sleeping.
