Chapter 38

"The Furious Four are my new favourite!!!!" said Grace as we sat for lunch a week later. "Furious Four?" I asked her, drinking water. I had completely forgotten the name of our 'group'. "Yeah! Don't tell me you didn't read the news that just came out. Like a week ago!!" she said and took out her phone. "What came out a week ago?" asked Leo as he sat next to me with his food. "Oh my GOSH you two!!!" she said, clearly excited about it. After tapping a few times on her phone, she showed us a news post. It was a video of us fighting the incident the previous week. "O-oh! That! Yeah-" I said, and took a glance at Leo. He too gave a look. "Oh by the way, did you see the new guy?" she asked. "New guy?" Leo and I asked at the same time. "Yeah! He couldn't attend school in the beginning of the year so that's why he came today!" she said. "HE?" I said, rather loudly. "We need to go." I said and pulled Leo to my locker. 

"We just found a new person to investigate didn't we?" he asked me. I nodded. "Tell them. I need to pick some stuff from my own locker." he said, squeezed my shoulder and then left. Later that day, as I sat on the bleachers waiting for the twins and Leo cuz they had an extra class, I saw a small crowd of girls surrounding a really good looking guy. Huh. I had never seen him before, must be the new guy everyone's taking about. "Ooh! Jeremy!! What did you say you wanted to do again?" asked one of the girls flirtatiously. "Ugh!" I said quietly. I was curious about where the conversation was going. Silently, I got up and tailed the pack. "Oh well! Nothing much! Just want to find the superhuman people who saved the street last week! My dad's a scientist and really wants to know what makes them tick!" he said, making me prick my ears. I didn't realize that they had stopped walking so I bumped into him. He turned around. Then he smirked. "Oh hey there" he said, clearly trying to woo me. "Sorry, i wasn't looking where I was going." I lied, I got what I wanted. Leo! Nate! Greg! If anyone comes, it would be a blessing. I turned to leave but he caught hold of me. I looked up.

"Let go of me." I said, feeling the heat starting to grow from my magical core. "Oh but you're such a cutie!" he said, now trying to push my hair backwards. "HEY!" I heard a familiar voice behind us. Leo, thank god! "What do you think you're doing?" Leo asked sternly. "None of your business!" said 'Jeremy' rudely. "Oh it's definitely my business when you're holding my girl like that!" he said, coming over. I froze. His girl?!? Why did that make my heart beat faster? Leo pulled me by my waist to him, with my one hand on my shoulder. Honestly speaking, he looked scary. "Dude I'm sorry. Didn't know she was taken." said the new guy in a friendlier tone. "Let's go KC." said Leo and steered me to where the twins were standing, along with Grace and Martin. "Thanks." I said and Leo let me go. "Anytime." he said and loosened up a bit. And then Nate got a text, hence, his watch beeped. "Who is it?" Leo asked. "It's...mom?" said Nate clearly surprised. "I'll check it out at home." he said and walked away with Greg, Grace and Martin. The two of them were gonna come to look around. "Stay away from him." said Leo as we skated back home. "Yeah I plan to. But he said something that I HAD to listen." I said and told him about what I heard. "Huh! All the more reason to keep an eye on him, without staying close to him." said Leo.

"Woah this is cool!" said Grace. "It's pretty spacious isn't it?" asked Martin. "Yeah." the four of us said. I took out my phone to see a text from Amaya. "Hey! Great news! I asked mom and dad, the said it's alright!"  she put, with an insane amount of exclamation marks. "Hey guys! Amaya's coming for Christmas!!" I shouted, while Grace and Martin just looked at me. "Oh uh, Amaya's my friend." they nodded and kept looking around. "Sweet ride!" said Martin when we went to the basement. "DONT!" I shouted cuz that was the bike I used and Nate had just fixed it up. "Sorry, it's just Nate's very protective about his...stuff!" I said, and added a small laugh. "Al-right then?" 

For a while we just talked about random stuff, other than our powers of course. "Anyway, I need to jet. I've got like an assignment waiting for me at home!" said Martin. "Yeah I need to go too! I've got a date with my pillow." she said to which we laughed and then they left. "Phew! That was close!" I sighed and drank some water. "Well, what did mom send that time?" asked Leo. "Oh right! I still need to check it!" he said, clicked his watch and his text screen popped up. "GUYS! Mom wants to know whether we can come home for Christmas!!" he said and started jumping. "Woah there! You'll bring the house down if you keep going!" said Leo, trying to steady Nate. "Okay, I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing mom and dad! It's been more than 6 months!!" said Greg and rubbed his hands, causing the air around him to glow slightly. "Yeah but Amaya's coming here too isn't she? And your parents are in...?" I asked. "Oh, our house is in Australia. And you can Amaya can come too! Mom told to just let her know how many of us are there, since she knows that we're on a mission. Also, she added that she's already spoken to Chief to let us off for the occasion!"  said Greg, peeking into the floating screen. "I'll need to ask Waverly and John if they'll allow her to come to Australia though." I said. They looked at me. "What about you?" asked Nate. "I'm allowed!" I said and then turned my head upwards. "Lexi! Make a video call to Amaya on the television would you?" i said. "Of course!" she said and a small camera popped up from behind the screen. "Cool." they said and I pulled them to sit on the couch so that they too could speak to Amaya along with me. 

After speaking to Amaya's parents, her being allowed to come with us to Australia under the condition that she's always with us, we fell asleep watching a movie. Next day was a Saturday, and getting up from the couch, changed, ate breakfast, you know the usual morning stuff. "Morning KC. You have an unread voice message from Amaya." said Lexi as I went to my room. "Cool! Please play it Lexi!" and my speaker let out the sound of an excited Amaya. "Hey! I have absolutely no idea how you convinced my parents! but that doesn't matter!! Eeeh! i can't wait to see you guys!! I'll call you later!!!" she said and I smiled. It'll be a treat to see Amaya and her extra hyperactive self. And then, Lexi began a siren which started beeping...
