Back to the present
I was sitting on top of the first building I could find. Looking up at the sky, all the memories of that day flashing in front of me, I lay on my back. The tears had stopped flowing down my face. I knew it was silly to break down like this, but now knowing the real reason, and it was me who caused the fire, I couldn't help it. About an hour had passed since I ran away from the building, but the breeze was slowly calming me down.
Suddenly, I felt the air around me slowly decreasing in temperature. Hearing soft footsteps behind me, I sat up and turned. I saw a familiar shadow. "I had a feeling you'd be here." I heard him say. "How'd you know?" I asked, as Leo sat next to me. "It's the first place your mind thought of." he said, turning to face me, as I sat cross legged. He was right; I did go to the first place my mind thought of: our school. Then I noticed something as the moonlight shined down on us. "You're hurt." I said, raising one hand to his cheek, and felt blood there. "It's nothing." he said, taking my hand in his. "What happened?" I asked in worry. "I ran after you, but he caught up to me and scratched me with one of his claws. But I threw him off." he said. "What about Greg?" I asked, remember that he had got hurt too. "The twins are back home. Since they're connected by blood, Nate was able to heal 80% of Greg's wound. He's fine now." he said, and turned ahead. "Let's go home." he whispered, but he was still facing ahead. "What?" I asked. "Let's go home. The two of them are waiting for you." he said clearer this time. Feeling the blush rising to my cheeks, my eyes still covered by the mask, I nodded. He didn't say anything, but got up and held out his hand. I took it, but with lightning speed, put me onto his back, and I hooked my arms around his neck. Then he did the most unbelievable thing ever! He walked to the edge of the building, and then the ground disappeared, and I felt the wind pushing us above, but our weight bringing us to the ground. He landed perfectly on his feet, me still clinging on tightly.
"What was that for!" I said, as he started a steady walk on the path back home. In the soft light, I could see him smile. "I wanted to try it out." he said. I put a fake surprised expression on my face, causing him to laugh. Plucking up my courage, I leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. He stopped walking. "My turn to ask the question- What was that for Miss Callisto?" he asked me and I could feel the playfulness in his voice. Blushing, I just buried my face in the crook of his neck, as he continued walking ahead.
"I would've gotten used to this! Then I would never walk again!" I groaned as he put me down on the couch, so that he could close the door. Pouting like a kid, I crossed me arms and leaned back, finally taking in a big breath. I heard Leo laugh from the other side of the hall. "KC! Are you alright!!" I heard a panicked voice from the stairs. By the time I had turned, a pair of arms were hugging me tightly. "You really need t-to reduce your grip-!" I struggled out as I realized that both Nate and Greg were hugging me. "How're you feeling buddy?" I asked Greg, putting a hand on his shoulder. He looked less pale, and only a small scar was left on his face. "I'm okay! What about you? We- we heard about what the idiot told you." he said, and I turned away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." he said. Sucking in a breath, I turned back to them. I noticed that Leo too was now on the couch. Crossing my legs in the place I was standing, I was now floating in the air.
"Remember that the cause of the first that killed my parents and destroyed the building wasn't found?" I asked, and the three of them nodded simultaneously. "Something arose my memory today." I said, and told them about the flashback I had a while back.
"So you're saying that...your magic had begun developing when you were 6?" asked Nate. "Wow, this is- this must've been a lot to take in after so many years..." said Greg. I slowly nodded. "Well, we'll make sure that Black Fox will not be doing things like this ever again!" said Nate, standing up with a determined look on his face. "Yeah! And no one can stop us. Ever." continued Greg. "Cuz when we're together, we can make anything happen." said Leo, with a smile. Getting on to my own feet, I smiled. "Thanks guys." I said.
"Come on. Let's get to bed. We've got school from tomorrow." I said, and that's how we split up for the night.
