That evening, after dinner, the five of us followed by Banner, their pet dog, were waiting outside a decorated door. "Welcome to Memory Lane!" said Greg dramatically and pushed the door open with a little push of air. We all went in. It was a cozy room, with bean bags here and there, and frames and frames of pictures on the wall. "This is amazing!" Amaya squealed. "One of my favorite places to be!" said Nate. "One of the best things to do is go down happy memories!" agreed Leo. "Now let's begin the tour, starting from the day the twins were born and I was adopted!"
After about 15 minutes, we decided to take a short break. We had just finished the section of the boys in 4th grade, getting prizes for academic he said. "I just remembered one of the rarest and obviously my favorite memories of Leo!" he said after he calmed down a bit. "Greg n-" Leo shouted but then Nate spoke. "That one?" he said with a gleam in his eyes. "That you've gotta hear!" he said. "Ugh fine!" Leo gave up, and slumped down on his bean bag.
"Ahem!" Greg fake-cleared his throat. "One Christmas Eve Gala, few years ago, in Los Angeles, California, one that we were attending when we were 11 years old! The dances and celebrations were all done! The way out was from behind the stage and there were two-" he went on. "STOP! No more!" Leo stopped him from speaking further. Then Amaya giggled. "Speaking of a Christmas Eve Gala, that reminded me, I think we were like 10 or something, we were on the stage. Me and KC were just fooling around. My parents were out talking to few people and pretty much 90% of the guests had left except for one or two families. I was trying to teach her a dance step. And she still doesn't get it until now even though she's much better at dancing than that time! Come Kiara! Do it with me like we did it that day!" she said. "Do I have to?" I groaned. "Just this once!" she pouted. "Ugh fine!" I said and stood next to her as the memory of that day flashed in my mind.
*Flashback to the Christmas Eve Gala, 8 years back*
"Kiara come on! Let me teach you my favorite step from Jingle Bell Rock!" 11 year old Amaya told a 10 year old me. "No! There are so many people here! I can't!" I said. Some families were sitting and talking, while few other kids were watching me and Amaya. "Aaaand some are watching us!" I hissed. "It's alright! We're not doing something wrong now, are we?" she said and pulled me to one side of the stage where three other kids were standing. She showed me the steps. I had memorized them, but was not very sure of the last step. "Ready? One...two...three... Jingle Bell...Jingle Bell...Jingle Bell rock..." she went on singing, followed by me, dancing perfectly. But when the last step was nearing, I gulped. "You got this!" Amaya said in between the lyric. "That's the Jingle Bell Rock...!" she sang the last note and as expected, I tripped over my own feet and fell backwards, but two arms caught me. And I've never been more embarrassed in my life. "Are you alright?"
*Back to present*
I tried getting it out of my head, because every time I near the last step, me falling plays in my head, and I end up tripping. "Come on! You got this!" Like the memory, we went smoothly, well until I messed up, AGAIN! "Mix and mingle in a jinglin' beat! That's the Jingle Bell Rock...!" she finished, I gulped, and then I looked down and the moment I did that, fell backwards. "Oh no!" I heard Amaya gasp. But I didn't fall. Like that day, two arms caught mine. I slowly opened my eyes that I had closed tightly to see the blue eyes I loved so much. "Are you alright?" Leo asked me. But we didn't move. "IT WAS YOU!" we shouted at the same time.
