Kenma didn't hesitate to rush down to the hospital after you called him and explained what happened.
You decided that you would sit by Kuroo and see just how he was doing, even though you knew the answer.
You placed a hand on his thigh and gave it a small squeeze.
"I know this may seem redundant but, are you okay?"A small chuckle came out and he looked over to you.
"It's okay baby..but no I'm not..I'm sorry.""Please don't be sorry, I also called your work and left a message that you'd be absent.."
He leaned his head back, staring back up into the sky.
"Thank you, work never even crossed my mind.."
You scanned his face and noticed how red his eyes were, they were probably dry as well from all the crying he had done. It pained you to see him hurt."I'm sorry for your loss Tetsu..and I'm sorry about your father..I did try and stop him.."
Kuroo shook his head. "Please don't be sorry baby, him coming here wasn't your fault..I guess mom still had him down as an emergency contact.."
You nodded your head. You couldn't figure out the right words or the right way to comfort him. It all happened way too fast and your mind was still in shambles.
You both sat there in silence till you heard a small voice beside you guys.
Kuroo looked over to you.
"You called Kenma?"You nodded. "I know that Kenma can help you in more ways that I can't.."
Kuroo gave you a kiss on your forehead. "Thank you baby."
You stood up from the bench and motioned Kenma to take your place.
You asked the two if they wanted coffee, to which they both agreed.
You set off to the cafeteria and placed your order.Yes hospital coffee wasn't the best and always tasted like it was burt, but you didn't want to leave too far from Kuroo out of fear that he'd need you when you weren't there, even if Kenma was by his side.
You had brought the coffee back to the two best friends and gave them their space again.
You walked back into the hospital and made a few more phone calls.
The doctor had told you to arrange a funeral sooner rather than later and it pained you.
You didn't want to believe that she was gone. She was just as much as a mother figure to you as she was to Kuroo.
She had opened her home to you and always checked in to see how you were doing, even when you lived in America.Taking a deep breathe and putting your phone away after arranging her funeral, you finally let more tears fall that you've been holding in so desperately for your fiance.
You hated how life worked sometimes.🌹🌹🌹
The funeral was scheduled for the end of the week, and it was beautiful.
You had said a few words on behalf of Kuroo, he couldn't talk at the moment in front of everyone who had come, so you took the challenge.
Kuroo appreciated everything you had done for him and his family.
As for the lunch his father ordered him to attend, Kuroo hadn't talked about it since coming home from it, as well as never bringing his father up in conversation.
Knowing the hard times he's been through, first losing his first child, then his mother and now his father coming back into his life.
It was too much to handle and you understood this.
After the funeral, Bokuto had insisted that everyone would go out for dinner and to just be there for Kuroo. As much as Kuroo wanted to just go home and lay down in your arms, he couldn't say no to Bokuto.
The restaurant chosen by Bokuto was a fancy barbeque type where you can grill your own meat, which in Akaashi's words, was his favourite.
There were ten of you walking into the restaurant, including Easton and Kahori.
The waitress greeted all of you and took you to your seats."May I get you started with some drinks?" She asked politely. "May I suggest our finest wine?"
"That would be good thank you, Tsukishima I know you don't drink, what would you like?" Kuroo asked.
"Just water thank you."
"Me too." Kahori chimed in.
"Oh and may we have an apple juice for the little guy here?" Ukie spoke up.
The waitress nodded and left to get the drinks for everyone.
"How you holding up bro?" Bokuto spoke from across the table."I'm okay man, thank you all for coming out by the way..I really appreciate it." Kuroo gave a weak smile to everyone.
You reached for his hand under the table and held it tight, letting him know that you were there. It wasn't long till everyone was eating and drinking, the mood slowly getting happier. It was mainly from the help of Bokuto's high energy and Easton's adorable laugh.
You were currently listening to a joke Yaku saw earlier on his phone but was doing a poor job at telling it.
You also had finished eating and had Easton on your lap.
He was drawing pictures on the place mat with crayons that the waitress had given him."Look aunt Y/n! It's you!" Easton pointed to the blue drawing that made you smile.
"Wow, it looks just like me Easton, very well done."
Easton laughed and went back to drawing again, your eyes met with your cousins who was sitting across from you.
He gave you a small smile and pushed up his glasses further up his nose before speaking.
"How are you holding up?"You smiled. "I'm okay, thank you for coming."
"Anything for family."
Your heart wavered to his words. You were happy that Kei had considered Kuroo as part of the family now and how he was getting along better with him.
"Look aunt Y/n, it him!" Easton pointed to Tsukishima and back down to a purple dawring of him.
"I think he needs a bit more of a frown there Easton." You teased.
Easton laughed while Kei shook his head at you.
Easton's laughter had caught Kuroo's attention. He had just noticed how he was on your lap and colouring in your arms.
He smiled to himself as he adored the sight of you acting like a mom.
As much as his heart hurt from the loss of his mother, He still noticed how strong you were being for him.
He made a mental note to thank you later for that.
