Lucas opened the door with a bang and glared at his sister. She pretended not to notice him standing there as she typed away on the keyboard. After some time, she asked without raising her head, “What do you want brother?”

“What I want is for you to stop seeing that prick!”

She looked up at him, her gaze hard, “What prick Lucas?” She had stopped typing.

“You know, that cop you’ve been spending a lot of time with, the one you left the party for, remember?” he said sarcastically. “You can’t possibly be in love with him Jack! He is trying to kill you for God’s sake! Why can’t you see that?”

Jack levelled her gaze on him, “I am not in love with anyone,” she said and continued typing.

“Okay, so you won’t mind if I pay him a visit, right?”

Jack looked up annoyed, “Why are you so concerned Lucas? I thought you didn’t care what I did?”

“I don’t care,” he said folding his arms and looking away. “Just, stop seeing him!”

“I’m not seeing him brother. I don’t know how many times I have to say this, I am not seeing him. It’s just a sexual relationship.”

“You can have that with any other person!”

“With you?” she asked innocently and he choked.

“No, God forbid that,” he said and watched as she got up from her chair.

“So why are you so against him in particular?” Jack asked cocking her head as she poured herself a drink.

“I don’t like him, okay? He’s ... weird,” Lucas finished lamely.

“Really? That’s your argument. He’s weird? You’re weird.”

Lucas glared at her, “I’m being serious here. Stay away from him, he’s bad news.”

“Okay, I’ve heard you. Would you let it go now? I’m tired of you singing the same song in my ear.”

“No.”

She glanced at him, “Then I might have to punch you.”

He glared at her, “You would really fight me for him?”

“I don’t want to have to fight you, but I will if you don’t, so let it go.”

The fights between them were brutal. They literally destroyed everything in their path whenever they fought.

“No, I think I’ll talk to him. Maybe get to know him, have a little chat.”

Jack threw the first punch. The force so hard that the door opened, and he fell through. Lifting her hand, she shoved him hard, “What I do is none of your business.”

“It is if you are doing something stupid.”

She moved to shove him again but he twisted her arms behind her back and pulled her against him.

She struggled in his hold and tried to head butt him. “Stop it Jack, stop! I don’t want to hit you, so please stop. Look at you, you are fighting me because of him. You don’t behave like this for someone you don’t love.”

Jack stomped hard on his feet and jabbed her elbow in his stomach, he quickly let her go. She rounded in on him again.

“Jack, stop,” he said softly.

Jack paused looking at his bruising face and her clenched fist as she regained herself. She had entered one of her black moods again. Her black moods were when she thought with her fists, not her brain.
