16 years from the story Bridging The Gap; The Final Records In Unova, the sequel of the life of Gary (no relation to Pokemon professor Gary Oak,) shows the now grown man living a far different life, suffering from the haunting thoughts of the death of his friend Aly. When an opportunity arrives to go back in time to save Aly from a suspicious source, Gary takes the offer, despite the warnings of the consequences of time travel.
